See how N'Realle's letter has already put the wheels of destruction in motion. It won't be long before some of us are killed," Llewella answers. "That is the direction events are flowing," Moire says. "We have to navigate our way through troubled waters so we emerge whole and on top of the pile.
"Lorelei, if you object to my becoming queen, who do you believe is most fit to rule?"

Ovid listens to the more elder and wiser women speak. Turning to Princess Lorelei when the question is put to her.

Looking to Moira, Lorelei answers, "You are my queen. I do not believe that extending your hand to rule Rebma AND Amber is in our best interests. Doing so will exponentially increase the dangers you face as a monarch while anything we gain will be effectively insignificant. I cannot as a good subject, and more importantly a good daughter, support the idea that you proceed along that line. This realm needs your strength and wisdom. I need you..."
"I can see why Benedict selected Florimel to act as regent - she is both one of the very few Elders that remains IN Amber AND is not a red-heads who, however briefly, allied with the Courts... Benedict is the eternally self-directed general out in Shadow. Eric died defending Kolvir during the Blackroad War. Corwin has created his own Pattern and will most likely never return to Amber. Deirdre was lost to the Abyss. Caine appears to have been killed by Rinaldo, but with him you can never be entirely certain. As I have said, Fiona and Bleys are the surviving red-heads. Brand is dead. Llewella's heart is with Rebma. Gerard died trying to sever the Shadow-paths to Kasaba. One imagines Julian is eternally tied to Arden, but has gone missing. Florimel... the less said the better. And of course Random died in the second explosion... By all rights, Martin should have stepped forward, but has gone into hiding. I have already stated that the only way I would consider Amber's throne is if there are no other options. Maeve is... not here. Calvera would make an excellent despot, but is an extremely poor choice as a king. Brian, his heart is in the right place, but he is too busy trying to get everyone else to act in accordance to his culture to actually think things through. Cody is too naïve and unschooled to be taken seriously at this time. Dorian is currently a mind-controlled puppet, but might be an acceptable candidate if freed. Leonil is certifiably insane and acting against Amber. I don't know the other cousins well enough to have an opinion of them... at least not well enough to suggest one." She gives Ovid a 'sorry, but that's just the way it is' smile...
Touching Ovid's arm she adds softly, "I like what you have shared of yourself with me, but don't feel that I truly know you yet..." .

"Likely it is because all they have ever known is the system of Royals, nobles, and commoners... and only the very, very best of them even has a chance at challenging any of us in our weakest category...," Lorelei replies in answer to the rhetorical question. .

"If I may, I agree with Princess Lorelei, as to your taking both thrones. Rebma does need you and Amber in it's current state requires much more attention than it is even receiving now. The gains and losses I also assess in the same way. As to my relatives I do not know them as well as others do. Many of us seem directed to pursuits other than rulership. Some take flight too quickly as well. Things may be imperfect but Florimel is at the least trying and using the methods she knows, which are just different from the ones the throne has taken before."
He nods briefly to Lorelei noting her words. "Thank you."

"Captain Brennon has told us much about Prince Calvera; that man's ambition for the throne is obvious. As obvious as his disdain for Rebma. Brennon chooses not to reveal that his companion Ruta is a member of a cult dedicated to Gerard, and they wish to invade Amber and place their own choice on the throne. Many of the others have also found allies and forces from outside Amber. Have you not done so yourself?" Moire asks him.

"I have pursuits but not aimed at seizing the throne. I have to have the freedom to move in order to help Amber. Sitting upon a throne would not allow that. I know that were I to make a claim, I would find all my relatives suddenly turning their interests to Amber. While that would not be a bad thing, their arrival would bring blood and war from what I have heard and know of my families history. I am young still in the grand scheme of things."

#s://i~ibb~co/m0mP1nk/Moire~jpg "What if one or more of the others made a move for the throne? Would you intervene to protect your interests?" Moire asks Ovid. Then to Lorelei: "If you feel that none of your cousins is fit to take the throne, would you fight to keep them off it? If I were to follow N'Realle's advice, would you stand against me?"

[OOC: I posted yesterday and the web ate the post. I've recreated that post the best I can below...]
Lorelei tells Moire, "What I said was I don't know most of the cousins well enough to make a recommendation."
"I cannot, however, see ANY good for Rebma should Calvera take the throne of Amber due to his sheer arrogance and bloodlust. We would fare better with Brian despite him being hellbent on trying to make the Real Worlds adhere to the culture of his Shadow world. Cody would be the guppy in a pool of piranha. I only spoke of these three because I know them best. Whomever sits the throne of Amber means little to me since it is not our realm."
"You are my Queen. While I will argue against bad ideas, even giving reasons if asked, but I will not oppose any action you choose to take." .

#s://i~ibb~co/m0mP1nk/Moire~jpg To Lorelei: "What of Martin? Assuming we could lure him back or capture him, then place him on the throne. He wouldn't even have to do the job, just be a figurehead while we do the job in his name."Or Maeve. She would be more amenable to our plan than Martin," Llewella adds. "No, I feel that your daughter is too influenced by the Courts. The nobles and people of Amber will not accept her.""Perhaps at first. If she then returned the Jewel to Amber, won a few wars, and eliminated a few enemies of the state like Leonil, Cody and Hammett, then they would come to love her."The sisters seem to be having a polite version of a disagreement they've had many times before.

"I would have no objection to Martin taking Amber's throne, in any capacity. He is the son of the late king of Amber. Getting him to stay, even if only as a figurehead, will be the problem," Lorelei replies to her mother.
To her aunt she says, "Maeve is level-headed and capable of handling the position... Many in Amber, at best, have no love of me because of who my father is. With Maeve being a child of Chaos, the resistance of Amber's people to her taking the throne would be immense. While not impossible, it would require phenomenal circumstances to change that..."
In essence Lorelei is saying that both have valid points, but neither will be easy to use... .

(I want to apologize for being absent. I have a medical emergency and bad news. I am dealing with a lot right now but I should have tried to get online to let others know what was going on. I was in the hospital the past 7 days. I received some bad news from the many doctors I saw over the past week. I just got home now.)
Ovid nods to Llewella, "I would intervene yes. For love of Amber and to see the kingdom rum well. Rebma has a stable kingdom and I would like to see that continue."
