#s://i~ibb~co/m0mP1nk/Moire~jpg "Yes, Lord Ovid, this Cody is a mystery. He seems to know so few of his supposed cousins - except in dreams," Moire says. "Do you place such a great faith in dreams? Can you say they were nothing but wishes? That you weren't being conned by this person from the Courts?" Llewella asks Lorelei.

"Dreams are where the subconscious mind is tossed upon the waves during sleep as it sorts problems, often veiled by symbolism, that stymy the conscious mind. Dreams are also where one finds truth without hubris. When one realizes they are dreaming and takes control, they enter a state of Lucid Dreaming, allowing one to go anywhere in the Dream Realms. Touching the dreams of others is possible there. From what he said and what I saw, I doubt he was attempting a con. If you had been there I believe you would had come to the same conclusion," Lorelei answer Llewella.

#s://i~ibb~co/m0mP1nk/Moire~jpg "You are quite naive if you believe these dreams to be so pure, other minds so defenceless," Llewella replies. "Cody being a part of your family makes this a complex situation. It would be so much easier to denounce him as a charlatan and cast him back to the 'Courts," Moire says. She gives Ovid and Lorelei a paper written by Lord N'Realle and signed by many other high-ranking nobles of Rebma. It states that since a member of Amber's royal family has declared Amber and Rebma equal and the same, and as Amber does not have a monarch, it is only right and proper to have Moire made queen of both realms. "For now, only I and Flora have this document, but they will unleash copies all over both cities later today."

"What I'd like to know is how Lord N'Realle could have copies ready to distribute," Lorelei seethes. "It has been less than a quarter of a day since the banquet where Cody was speaking high-ideas without-the-proper-context. For N'Realle to do something this bone-headed should have taken nearly a week to organize."
"It's true enough that Amber has failed to establish a proper Rite of Succession, but it does have a regent in place making N'Realle's argument moot. The trade that passes through Amber is available to us, but Amber itself has nothing we want... especially with its current troubles..." .

Ovid looks over the paper his eyes lingering on it.
His eyes flicker up to take in Moire. "Regent Florimel is ok with this ?"

#s://i~ibb~co/m0mP1nk/Moire~jpg "The noble families of this city - and in every city - are always conspiring to improve their status. You may consider Random's death a tragedy, but I assure you that they consider it an opportunity. They had been planning something like this for a long time and were waiting for someone foolish enough to say something they could use. It would have been one of your other cousins if it weren't Cody.
"There is a great difference between a Regent and a Monarch. If Benedict had his shit together and crowned someone, we wouldn't be in this situation," the queen says. "No, Florimel is not happy about this," Llewella says. "She had managed to keep our family balanced and peaceful. Once the others learn that Moire will steal the crown, they will invade, hoping to take it first. And attack Rebma to remove us from the game."

"There can be only one response to this," Lorelei says, practically shaking with anger. "Have the Captain of the Guard take the Tritons, not the regular troops and bring every signator of this work to the Castle. Once they are here they will be informed that for their act of Treason against the safety of the Realm they are stripped of all titles and will be turned over to the Regent of Amber for their efforts to undermine that throne. Their presentation proclamation can inform Princess Florimel that she may do with them as she pleases, except return them to Rebma as they will be under a kill-on-sight order... unless the Queen Mother has some softer-hearted plan." .

#s://i~ibb~co/m0mP1nk/Moire~jpg "How is it treason? You vowed that Cody was a child of Deirdre. You proclaimed loudly in front of everyone at the banquet that you agreed with N'Realle's beliefs. You say the two families are equal, and you've always been pro-Rebma. Why this sudden change of heart?
"You haven't considered that the nobles of the realm are what keeps the city functioning. To arrest and banish them will weaken us at a time when we need to be strong. Not to mention, the remaining nobles will rise up against us if we act so rashly."

"This isn't about who is part of what family or which may be greater, lesser, or equal. Everyone is entitled to BELIEVE whatever they wish. The divide is where belief turns into action. The Noble Houses are SWORN to support and defend Rebma with their loyalty to the throne. Had they only approached Rebma's throne and talked they could have been dismissed. What N'Realle and those who support him did DELIBERATELY circumvented for personal gain every principle upon which our throne is founded, which IS an act of treason. Failure to put those Houses back in their place only encourages all but the most loyal Houses to turn against us as well... assuming there is still a kingdom left after the action of these idiots prompts Amber to turn upon us."

Ovid listened to the conversation closing his eyes and shaking his head slightly.
"We are in another one of those times again. I hoped them in the past so that we could work together to heal the realm not cause it more harm. I have not been at the center of things for some time so I am putting together what is going on. While I had wished to work on the problems in the realm above it seems I will have to redirect my focus. A war for the throne may already be happening from what you all say. I have no ill will towards Rebma or it's monarch. May I stay as a guest while I weigh my place in events unwritten ?"

Lorelei tries to give Ovid a wry smile. "Were this just a matter betwixt family, I could imagine it just so. I stayed away from Amber for all those years because of Random and what he did to my sister. And 'though it was a tragedy that finally propelled me go above, everything that has happened since has gone to the bad, the worst, and more so. Missing and deceased family, arrogance, ever worsening storms... An outside force attacks both kingdoms, and instead of bending every resource to finding and seizing that threat by its throat, it feels like both are instead trying to hide their heads in the silt. Now this internal threat of rampant ambitions and miniscule minds... it sets my blood to boil."
She pauses to take and release a deep breath. "But you are not part of all that. Your motives are clearly those of one wanting to help all." Stepping closer she gives Ovid the kind of full body hug that Rebma is (in)famous for... "Like you, I have no ill will toward the other kingdom. I wish them only the best, because what happens there is reflected here. Between that and blood-ties I've gone so far as to state that I will help them where I can," she says with a slowly outward sweeping gesture. With the following inward sweeping gesture she says, "As long as Rebma's gates are open, all who would come without malice are welcome to visit. The power to grant a requested stay, however, resides solely with the Queen." .

#s://i~ibb~co/m0mP1nk/Moire~jpg "Lord Ovid, you are certainly given leave to stay here for as long as this supposed conflict lasts. In fact, it may do Flora a world of good to see us so united.
"Have you considered that N'Realle may not be wrong? The threats are to both cities, and if united, our strength would be greater. The two of you working with my sister would be a match against those opposing my rule.""It could be argued that our lands should have been joined right from the very beginning," Llewella adds.

Ovid smiles to Princess Lorelei accepting the hug and exchange.
"I am glad to find someone else who wants to do something. I am trying to handle the food shortage situation which will inevitably arise with the crop destroying rains. As to the curse in Garnath while I thought some cure to it could come especially with the help of a skilled shaman. Someone far older and more intimately tied to that curse said it would remain."
He then looks to the Queen when Lorelei presents his request. "I thank you for this." He bowed as much as etiquette allowed.
"As to your statement, a union of power has always seemed to me to be better then scattered reactionary responses. I had hoped to work with Maeve, she left though I believe with our other cousin into shadow. I did work with Xu Liang, whom seems proficient in shamanism. Bringing forces together is wise."

#s://i~ibb~co/m0mP1nk/Moire~jpg "There is wisdom in your words, Lord Ovid. One can only hope the Regent also possesses such insight. I request that you delay your search for food until this little antagonism has passed. You will be more valuable here than lost in the shadows."

Lorelei casts a dubious expression when the possibility of Flora having insight is mentioned... Apparently her short time in Amber has already generated a long list refuting that possibility... .
