The big man throws back his head and answers with a howl of his own. It splits the night and could be made by no mortal man. Nataila's blood sings to her, she feels light on her feet and emboldened. This close the dread that stabs Jaxiam in the pit of his stomach feels almost like a physical blow.
What ever the power of the howl its meaning is clear. The hunt is on. Calvera takes off a dead sprint. The shades will be sore pressed to keep up.
[OOC: I assumed Nataila has walked the patern. And Jaxiam bears the Logurs.]8

The howling (of the hounds!) continues as the trio run down the street. Added to it are a couple of blasts from a shotgun.
A block along the street stops at a dead end. The woman has her back against the wall an axe in each hand. The shotgun has been tossed aside. She is bleeding from a few wounds. Around her are six of the hounds, a seventh lies dead on the ground. She sees the three approach and gives a salute with an axe.
The hounds sense the approach and four turn to face Calvera, Natalia, and Jaxiam.

"Use silver and aim for the brain or where the spinal column meets the skull. It is the only way to get a quick kill."
Jax takes careful aim before shooting the closest hound between the eyes.

Calvera slows for half a step then since the shades have kept up and can cover his rear, he draws his dagger in his left hand and charges straight in.
If they meet him he will bash the lead hounds brains out with the pick. But real wolves would never meet a charge head on. He'll go right through them slashing on the way and turn when he makes it to the woman. Wolves don't like to be flanked. These aren't wolves but they may have similar instincts. And if not they will still be flanked.

Nat returns the salute and looks at the wolves. "Brain or base of skull spinal column, got it." She takes aim at the wolf nearest her and fires before she darts behind Jax and pops up around his other side. Jax knows this is her way of trying to confuse the wolves. She continues to bounces back and forth firing at the wolves as Calvera moves in towards the woman. "Think Dad knows what's going on yet?" Nat asks Jax.
(OOC: Nat has walked the pattern.)

With a few words uttered Jax hits another Chaos Hound with a spell.
{OOC: Boiled Alive -- Surrounds a target with a shield of charged plasma totally encasing them. Next it opens a portal to superheated pressurised water allowing it to fill the plasma shield.}

The hounds rush the trio.
Calvera:
The pick bites deeply into the shoulder of one of the hounds causing it to stagger back. The second gets its maw on Calvera's wrist and bites deep.
Natalia:
The shot strikes true and the hound staggers then falls dead.
Jaxiam:
The shot is slightly wide of the mark, grazing the hound's skull. It jumps and knocks Jax to the ground before he can get the lynchpins out of his mouth.

"Mac soith!" Nat curses in Gaelic. She looks at Jax's prone body. "You ok Jax?" Nat asks as she wrests the silver saber free of her belt with her unoccupied hand while firing the pistol at the other wolf.
(OOC: Not sure if you want me to translate that or not...)

[OOC: which wolf are you firing at? Calvera is up close with one, one has backed off from C, and the last is on top of Jax so firing at it risks hitting Jax.]

Calvera gets his lets go of the pick and grabs the hound by the throat lifting it off the ground. He'll have to trust his glove to keep his hand from being torn off. Its never let him down before.
He still wants his back against a wall so he will drag this monster toward the other woman.

Lifting the hound up more than off it's front two legs is impossible as it is more than 6' long of dense, writhing muscle. But he does manage to pull it a few feet towards the woman. The hound clamps its jaws tight with massive force and Calvera feels his gauntlet creak as it becomes deformed.
The other beast's ears perk up and it readies to pounce when it sees the pick dropped.

(OOC: She's firing at the one that has backed off from C. Pulling the saber out is to help Jax if needed without the added risk of shooting him too.)

Natalia's shot hits the injured hound. It flees down an alley.
Jaxiam's shift takes long enough to allow the hound to take a couple of huge bites into Jax's shoulder. Once in firey form, the singed hound follows its brother down the alley.
Calvera struggles with a hound. A silver axe flies out and severs the hound's spine at the neck. Missing Calvera's fingers by less than an inch! The hound falls dead.

Calvera pulls his hand out of the beasts jaws and carefully flexes his fingers. They move still. Gingerly he pulls the glove off, his wrist is bruised all the way around an is already starting to swell and throb.
He switches hands with his dagger and sheaths it behind his back. Then he takes length of silk from around his waist puts a loop in it and uses it to hold his injured hand against his chest.
He does all this swiftly with sure motions one handed. This is not the first time he has had to treat his own injuries.
