Nat nods and gives a wave to the crowd that has gathered. "Wonderful! I look forward to seeing the castle. I'm sure the photographs in the travel books do not do it justice." She begins to walk towards the limo, stopping to loop her arm through Conrad's. "Am I correct in assuming that the meetings will be after lunch?" She glances back over her shoulder and waves at Bretton. "This is Bretton, by the way. My father insisted I have a bodyguard and a food taster." Nat looks back at Conrad. "How have your studies been?" She asks quietly. "Have you been able to improved your French since we saw each other last?" She knew Conrad did not like large crowds and was a private individual, preferring quiet libraries and museums to loud, busy crowds.

Conrad replies in perfectly adequate French, but his accent is still off.
"Sadly, work can not be delayed until after lunch, Princess," the Duke says. "Once the news of your impending arrival was revealed to the public, a long list of petitions and grievances has formed. These duties can not wait. Rumour also suggests a representative from Muscovy is en route to meet with you."

"Bon," Nat says to Conrad. "L’accent a encore besoin de travail, mais il est parfaitement adéquat Français.." She turns to look at the Duke as Bretton opens the door to the limousine and goes in to inspect it. "Wonderful. I look forward to hearing from them." Her eyebrows arched at the mention of Muscovy. "Really? How long has it been since a representative has been here?"
((OOC: Translation: "Good," Nat says to Conrad. "The accent still needs work, but perfectly adequate French." Also, I hope I didn't step on your toes by acting as Bretton. I just assumed that's what he would do before allowing her into the limo. Likewise, I think she would already know how often representatives of Muscovy have come to Bohemia. I say that because I'm sure Corwin's spies would have known that and would have passed that information on.))

[OOC: no problem with Bretton. Consider him a NPC you control.]
"Muscovites without guns? It has been a while, Princess," the Duke says with a smile. "It is only natural that the Tzar would stand against the encroachment of his lands by your father. There is no doubt that when Corwin returns to us he will bring an army to destroy the Tzar's forces and expand his reach further East. Until then we just need to hold Bohemia against what is arrayed against us."
Conrad seems quite interested in the laces of his shoes, seemingly not interested in the discussion between Nat and the Duke.

Nat nods in agreement with the Duke's assessment of the Muscovites. Bretton motions for her to climb in, and she does, taking a seat next to him. "Yes, no doubt." Once the Duke and Conrad join her, she continues. "Now, while my father is away, he has ordered that I be in charge here." She looks at Bretton. "Is there water?"
Bretton nods and pours a glass, sipping it before handing it to her.

"Absolutely, Princess. Your leadership is absolute and welcome. I have no doubt that the people of Bohemia will welcome your rule."
The car pulls into the castle and Nat is lead to her office. On the desk is a huge stack of folders and papers.
"To begin with you will need to familiarize yourself with the basics of this land; her history, politics, geography, social and military organization," the Duke says while gesturing at the stack. "Once complete there will be more to study on our neighboring kingdoms and republics both allied and hostile."
He pulls back a curtain revealing stacks of files ten times the size of those on the desk.
"This amount of study can not be completed in a day so my son and I will continue to take care of the day to day running of the land while you get up to speed."
[OOC: Sorry for the work flashback!]

Nat arches an eyebrow and looks at the Duke. "Is that my father's orders? Book learning stuff he already had me learn while you run things? Because," She walks over and picks up a file. "I am sure my orders are to be in charge." She turns to face the Duke. "Or is it that you think so lowly of my father that he would send me here with those orders without the knowledge it would require to fulfill them?" Nat places the file down. "I admit, the neighboring kingdoms and republics' information will be helpful and, those I don't mind learning." She steps towards him. "Please understand that I am in charge, regardless of the need to learn. That means you will run all decisions or orders by me before you act on them. I'd hate to tell my father you are uncooperative with his orders."
[OOC: Sorry for the delay, had food poisoning. I assume Corwin (headless one) would have had her learn about Bohemia since he was trying to marry her off to them.]

[OOC; Sorry to hear about the poisoning! I've had that a couple of times and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Especially if you live in a one-bathroom place! I hope you are better now.]
"Of course, Princess. I assumed your knowledge may have been of an overview and general nature and perhaps a touch out of date considering the changes which are occurring across this land and neighbouring principalities. I figured you would be interested in a more detailed accounting of Bohemia and her people.
"And if I am yo come to you with all orders and decisions, you would be best served with a great knowledge of the laws and customs of our people."

Nat smiles at The Duke. "I can start with the updates starting..." She thinks for a moment. "Eight months ago." She walks over to the desk and points to the stacks on the table behind the curtain. "How are those organized? I might need someone, an assistant as it were, to reorganize to my liking." Nat leans against the desk. "Minor, day-to-day things you don't need to see me. However, if there are major things I want to know about." Again, she smiles. "I can also learn while sitting there, watching and learning how you handle things."

"Eight months?! You could try and begin at such a recent date, but I fear that you will quickly find that all that happened eight months ago depended upon events happening eight months before that, and the early events must be read before more recent events are understood. And then, of course, those events must be traced back further into history and so on. I would not be so disgraced to have your father learn that we did not provide proper education to you at the start of your rule.
"Yes, we can find some clerks and assistants for you. Two will be sent along to you shortly.
"Good day, Princess."
The Duke leaves, and in ten minutes, a young man and woman show up as Nat's new underlings.
