Celessia screams at the burns, her voice slicing across the water like a foghorn. With all of the electronic alarms of the other ships going off, it is only the timbre of her voice, a voice instead of an electric alarm, that makes it notable.
Gritting his teeth and trusting his (remaining) crew to do their job, Captain Brennon aims just on the 'safe' side of the break in shadow, speaking continuously in a low voice to the ship about where he is headed, so she can make the adjustments herself if something comes up.
Travelling through shadow on his own powers is never pleasant, and Brennon plans to make a second-to-last-minute adjustment to heel her over and pour his ship through the gap, into another shadow. In his experience, last-minute decisions are about 43 seconds too late.

The second torpedo strikes the Stormrider blowing a huge hole in its side. Gerard is lost from sight as the ship starts to sink. The Pattern aura that was spreading across the bay wavers then begins to whip about striking another bunched up knot of ships. The Celessia's way forward is now clear.

As the pressure from the Pattern is temporarily lost, or at least misdirected, Brennon takes the chance and pours on his own Power, aiming for distance from Kasaba and a calming sea surrounded by wreckage, land barely visible in the distance. Any demons or other living flotsam that catches hold, or simply gets too close, is going to be hauled through into a sharkfest. Once the storms of Travel pass, Celessia's crew might be able to save some of the swimmers.

The Celessia rides into the crack through Shadow. Storms rise around her as usual but enhanced by the strange weather which has been plaguing the shadows. Flashes of Lightning batter the seas, hurricane winds toss the ship about. Pinky pukes loud enough to be heard over the tempest.
Then after what seems to be forever, the ship emerges in a calm sea of dead and dying. People float among wrecked ships swollen by their own rotting gases, great sea beasts also float belly-up. Sharks of some sort feed on the remains.
Pinky stumbles up the steps onto the deck looking green about the gills. Seeing and smelling the death about she begin heaving over the rail.

Brennon's smile is grim as he finally turns the wheel over to someone else.
"You know the drill!" he orders. "Check the wounded, fish or splint all the damaged spars, then check for what's still alive out there! Plague flag up, if it screams it might have enough life in it to be worth saving!" There are other, more specific orders, but that is left to the officer of the watch.
Captain Brennon pitches in with any task that his injuries will allow, working his way through his crew to provide a silent reassurance, and making his way below to check on their prisoner. He'll check the conductor over with a brief medical exam, then if the man is still unconscious, Brennon will try to decide how much longer he'll be out. If the conductor is conscious, Brennon will attempt some small orienting conversation, then decide whether the man's injuries should be left alone and the man fed, or whether it is safe to knock him out again.
