The great plaza is quieter than usual this morning. Some servants and labourers scrub the blood off the stones and add buckets of soapy water to the falling rain. Some are carrying green robed bodies and tossing theme onto carts. None of the clergy are out this morning.

I try to see if I can find a city guardsman who can direct me on my attempt to find Matthew. If that doesnt pan out I make my way towards the Rebman embassy

"Matthew? One of them beggars hangin' about the gates? What use is that riff-raff to the King of Ayalos? Anyway, good Regent Florimel rounded them all up and sent them to a farm out Bayle's way," a guard tells him.
Down the mountain, through the city. Even this early in the morning, the streets are busy, and many of those Brian pass wear the style introduced by Dirk. The Rebman embassy is close to the waterfront but away from the roughest part of the docks. Two soldiers guard the entrance.
"Your business?" they ask him.

I thank the guard for his information. "He said something to me last time I was at the castle. I didn't get enough time to fully ask him more. "
As I make my way down to the embassy. I take note of the sailoring.
"I wish to send a communication to the Queen." I smile at the Soldier " The Queen offered me her Hospitality last time I saw her. I was hoping to take her up on the offer while I am here. If you can pass the message to her and someone can advise me if I could go there today or which day would be best for her?"

"Rebma is a greater city than this stinking, dirty Amber. You'd be best served going down to await the Queen's indulgence," says one.
"More efficient that way. We'll just be sending a messenger down Faiella-Boinin anyway. While waiting, I recommend the Electric Eel; it's a groovy joint where all the hippest of young nobles hang out," adds the other. From a pocket, he hands Brian a business card advertising the nightclub.

I tap the card and smile "Well....I don't plan to stay in Amber long at the moment. If you are just going to send a messenger then you can advise the queen to send word to Lord Brian of Ayalos in Castle Amber if I can come down. I've respect for another sovereign to not come to her door unexpected." I smile at the guards " I might reconsider it though. I do have a few errands to do in Amber first. So if I get bored I might take your up on your offer." I give the guards a proper salute and proceed on my way. I try to find a swordmaster/Blacksmith/Historian sort of person in the merchant district of Amber. Some one to ask my sword and armor questions before I head out to try to tie up the loose end with Matthew.
And I also check for a tail at this point....I have three or 4 groups of people who might be of a mind to tail me.

None of the people he finds in the city can tell him anything new about his equipment.
Directions to the Bayle's farms are found, and he rides out through the sodden Amber countryside. He sees no spies or tails.

I have to figure out how this situation on the farm is going to work out. HOPEFULLY, the reputation I receive out here is positive.
It is weird in the Center of the Multiverse no one seems to know anything. One of the nagging thoughts in the back of my mind. But let's see if Matthew has something credible or it's another wild goose chase.

The brick road to the Bayle's territories makes travel easy for Brian. Few other people are on the road today, and Dirk's fashions have influenced none. His route then splits off the main road to a rough-trodden path through fields and low, rolling hills. There are marks of footprints and hoofprints in the dirt and grass. The train ends in a wide sunken area. Mud and pools of rainwater cover the ground. Trees fringe the surrounding hills. There is no sign of anyone there.

These sorts of roads are familiar to me. I close my eyes and try to think about a path to where there might have been something. I open my eyes and go as far as my horse will take me. Then I look about for anything that could be used for shelter. I check the pools last. Hoping not to find my target there. I try to get a sense of where a farm house might even be
I make my way towards where it looks like the farm house should be....but with the rain its likely trouble to find it.
"Hal" I say to my covid companion. "Can you find where the farm might be?"

Brian notices that some of the turf has been disturbed in the area. In the pools, there are a few broken weapons and some scraps of clothing and the usual items people carry.
The bird sees no farms for many miles from this spot.

I grumble and make my way down the trail to see if I can find who I am looking for......Its like Amber and all around it are out to keep me from getting answers on days like this."Any sort of trouble ahead" I ask Hal. The Broken weapons and clothing are often a bad sign

This place is the end of the trail. The raven has found no trouble.

With the raven's guidance, he heads back down the path to the main road, then rides for a few hours until he comes to the nearest farm. The few people working there see him coming and then run inside the house, and Brian hears the fall of a wooden beam baring the door.
