[OOC - Okay I was just trying not to overstep the mark. Kat hasn't done much of this sort of this before]
Kat listens to the tales for a while, but soon realises that this journey is not going to be quick. The Mirror Maze will not wait and she has to try something, something that perhaps she has never done before.
She remembers seeing the countless big black carrion birds that feasted on the corpses of men who died fighting the demons. Corvidias they were called and perhaps she might know enough of them to try and assume its form. A bird of death going to prevent the death of the Mirror Maze. Now there was irony if there ever was such a thing. She conjured forth a closable carry sack from her cloak and began putting her stuff in it and sealing it up carefully.
"I'm going to try something." She says at last. "I may die from the attempt, but at least you can recount that I tried to save the world."
With that, she pictures the form of the Corvidias in her mind and begins the transformation into its shape. She flaps her wings experimentally and the clutches at the bag in her huge talon.
She takes a run up a ridge, flapping her new wings furiously and the launches herself into the air in the vain hope that flying is not as hard as all that.

It takes some experimentation with wing shape and length and some scrapped knees (do birds have knees?), but in time technique Kat does manage to figure out the whole throw-yourself-at-the-ground-and-miss technique and flies off into the darkness. The people below look up at her in confusion. The thought of flying had never occurred to any of them before.
Not that flying comes easy to her. The ground diminishes under her more rapidly than her suspected flight speed, and the burning, broken Pattern doesn't hang still in the sky but drifts and jitters randomly from side to side, closer and further from her.

Kat concerntrates on the Mirror Maze and her bond with it as she tries to fly to it, trying to use her connection with it to draw it to her as it drifts.

Kat feels no bond to the Maze as she flies higher and higher. Soon she is among the four portions, a cage of orange neon and fireworks show.

Kat makes a mental note to herself that she really needs to learn more about things before they go all supernova on her, however given her current situation the best she is going to get is on the job training. She tries to use what she's heard others describe as the lens of the Mirror Maze to see if she can see what's going on inside the construction. Given that she understands how things are put together using her conjuring she tries to make an assessment on what is wrong and how she might attempt to fix it. She knows that she doesn't have long, so to start with she's looking to prevent it exploding and then trying to put it back together again.
"This is another fine mess you've gotten yourself into Katerina." She says to herself, though it comes out as a series of squarks from her bill as she tries to hovver near the pieces.

Staring at the burning strands of Pattern gives Kat a blinding headache. She can't see what has broken the Pattern; it has always been fractured but now looks torn apart. Her mere conjuration doesn't feel potent enough to rebind a Pattern.

Kat knows what broke it in the real Eshanta, all she needs to do is fix that in the mirror world. But how? She's no expert in all things arcane. She knows what she knows and that is very specific. The Broken Pattern seems to be the part that is broken, so that probably is the bit that she needs to fix. She has walked that previously and thus has a map of the Mirror Maze in her mind. She knows every mirror and twist and turn that was there, all she needs to do is somehow recreate it and set it back to how it was.
She decides to try something majorly risky. There is no time to analyse any further and her observations were getting her nowhere. She looks (as best she can for the start) and tries to absorb the energies that the Maze is putting out into her through the mirror cloak that is in her carry bag and then hopefully back out reordered through her mind to the Pattern that she knows is held there in her memories. She theorised that the cloak might have some connection to the artifact that was the Mirror Maze and might help her in channelling it. At least she hoped so. The Maze had called her for help some while ago, so she hoped that if she reached out to that part of it, that it would help guide her.

OOC: She can only use the cloak when she is wearing it.

In the distance, mighty bolts of ruby-red lightning fall from the sky. Where they strike the ground the land erupts forming into mountains.

I hope they are striking down all the demons. More smiting that was what was required. Kat thinks to herself in satisfaction. She hoped it was picking up her emotions and razing the demon army.
She looks in the hope that there is somewhere that she can land up here and don her cloak once again. Without it she will likely die in the attempt. Not that she cares if she does. She has lost everyone that she has ever known. Her adoptive father, mother, brothers and everyone she ever had a pleasant conversation with in Eshanta. All gone now. What did it matter if she died in the attempt to fix the Maze. At least she was trying to do something good.
Top five badass in the Universe Bleys! Most like top five at being bad at everything you try to do. Kat thought miserably to herself.
If she can find somewhere to land, she will shift back to herself and don the cloak. Then she will try again.
[OOC - Just as a rules thing of what she is trying to do (if its not obvious from her description). She is trying to use a Broken Pattern tendril by the link through her cloak to the Broken Pattern and she is trying to guide the repair using the Broken Pattern lens - the image in her mind) to retrace and set it back to where it should be. She is also trying to use her High Compelling to exert her will onto it and her Conjuring to recreat the physical aspects.]

The lightning continues to blast. Distant but still bright enough to blind her when looking through the lens. The broken Pattern parts above her are resistant to her efforts. They are too large and still contain too much power to be adjusted and reconfigured by one person.

Or someone as weak and useless as you. Kat thinks to herself. It was unlikely that she was going to get any assistance here in the mirror world to reconstruct the Pattern. The only person who stood a chnace of being here and being able to help was Tak, and she wasn't at all sure that she wanted to see her mirror self again after their last encounter. It wasn't like she could even call for help as she'd lost all her magic cards.
All she could do was wait now until the pieces were smaller and she could start manipulating them. It was a risk though because the Broken Pattern could collapse if they were too small. She had to keep trying them periodically until they were of a right size.

The red lightning ceases after a few more blasts. What was once a distant horizon is now a towering range of twisted mountains.
The broken Pattern continues its slow-motion spiralling roman candle display.

I hope that lightning has been smiting all my enemies. Kat thinks to herself.
She tries again to see if she can manipulate things now. She knows that she needs more power, but there's no one around to help, so she's now all on her own. She has a desperate idea. The borken pattern must be giving off a load of power when it is breaking down. What if she re-used that power to reform it?
She decided to try one more time, this time trying to channel the power and energies of the dying Broken Pattern through herself and reshape it. Using its destructive power to recreate itself using the image in her mind. It was dangerous, but what did she care now. Everyone she had ever known here on her home was gone and no one had any love for her.
