Ovid set off simple saying, "Keep your eyes on me as we travel. Do not lose sight of me or you may end up left behind and I will need to circle back to retrieve you. There will be changes around you, but this close hopefully not great and sudden changes."
Ovid sets off to his homeland ? of Amber. Making the changes slow but purposeful ever narrowing things down till he held the image of Amber that was in his mind before them all in his shadow walk.

I would like to describe it.
Outside in the dark skies outside the tavern. "Well, I suppose it is good I didn't get to warm up and dry out too much." He after checking the others were behind him set off along the cobblestone road, along the village street. He took a look off towards the docks at the ships docked there. Getting a sense of the things around him with which to work. His step forward he worked with the road first. Some cobblestones were missing. Another step and sparse plants sprung up between the cobblestones and the buildings began to narrow down. He kept the scent of the sea in his nostrils as well as the sound of the waves crashing in his ears. He continued on till the cobbles became more stones simply among the mud. The flashes of lightning revealing the village had gone and they were walking along a stormy shore. Sloshing along the screeching of a harpy could be heard and Ovid rested his mace on his shoulder just in case. Slosh, slosh. The walk took them up a slope till they were walking along a road in a cliffside. Off to the side a thick forest could be seen. Each flash of lightning that forest seemed to loom larger. Ovid occasionally stopped and looked off at that great forest.
Continuing on each step brought more fog till finally when it broke a thick dark part would not vanish, but it was soon revealed to be the great mountain Kolvir. Ovid checked for the reality of the place to see if they had reached the true realm.

Dante, no stranger to poor weather was not troubled by stepping back out into the muck and mire, but still braced himself just the same as he watched Ovid with contained curiosity. He intended to walk them there? He thought, wouldn't it be better to get horses? And that's when he began to notice the changes as he walked along with Ovid, only a pace or so behind, seeing the world change around him so subtly. Seeing this happening his fascination could not be contained though he said nothing, assuming that this was some strange form of magic and if it were, he would not disrupt Ovid's concentration...
He did however feel a sense of ominous dread at seeing that forest, and his hand rested upon the hilt of his hanging sword, as much out of comfort as it was precaution. And when they stopped, he took in the sights around him, taking in as much detail as he could.

#s://i~ibb~co/qMBZm3j/Anna-Mae~jpg Dante is correct. It would have been much better to ride rather than walk. The way is long, and shadows this close to Amber do not part as easily as those further out, In spite of Ovid's wishes, the road is neither straight nor flat, and the trio climb and descend many hills before he can bend the shadows no further. Even the until now bubbly Anna Mae is disheartened and grumbling at the hard going. They stand at the edge of a sharp cliff. Kolvir sits in the far distance, with many miles of unbroken forest between this spot and Amber. Their road continues to the right, descending a more gentle slope in a series of switchbacks before reaching the valley floor. It then climbs another mountainside before reaching a pass and the guard station. "We are most of the way there now," Anna Mae tells Dante. "If we can slog our way to the pass, the guards will have fire and food. Coffee, too, if we are lucky."

Dante will look in the direction she indicates, looking for signs of structures aside from the guard station. He also takes this moment to take in the scent of the air, the feel of the ground beneath his feet, even the feeling of whatever wind brushes across his face, attempting to memorize as many details as he can of this place...
Dante will acknowledge Mae's words, though seeing the state and discomfort their long and arduous trek has caused her, he will say "I don't mean to come off as overly forward, or demeaning, but if you'd like I could carry you a short while to give you a bit of rest? We've journeyed a long while and I know my footwear is designed for it and even my feet ache." He says with earnest concern to her.

"Most steeds do not like the changes, that combined with the lightning and thunder I thought it best to keep to our feet. My apologies if it caused you too much distress." He then inclined his head towards the woods. "That is the forest Arden, to call it mythical would be an understatement." He kept his eyes on it for a time.
"Now that we are here though, we should be alright. Meaning we have passed the intervening shadows."
There was a concerned look on his face though he would carry the ladies bags if Dante were indeed to carry her.

#s://i~ibb~co/qMBZm3j/Anna-Mae~jpg "You would shame me in front of Rinaldo's soldiers? I might know some of those guys. I'd never be able to live down stories of being treated like baggage."She sets off along the road, trying to disguise her limping on blistered feet. Dante senses enough of the place that he could reach it again if he were to travel on his own.

A wraith-like woman with platinum blonde hair, dressed in flowing white, steps out from the forest ahead of them. She is unarmed and carries no gear of any kind.

The woman at first seems to look around orientating herself.
When seeing the group, a warm smile appears on her pale face. As far as that is seen from a distance.
She does not make immediate moves to get closer to them. She seems to think. Or observe.
Then, with calm steps, she walks towards the little group. Her hands folded in front of her one could see she is on bare feet.

Dante sighs and shakes his head, in bemusement at Mae's statement, "then if you won't allow me to carry you, then perhaps one of my handy card tricks might suit you...surprised at myself for not thinking of this right away actually..." He quickly with practiced ease flips through his Trump cards until he comes to one of a handsome and hardy riding horse and concentrates upon it, hoping to bring him forth and to offer him to Mae to ride...that is, until he spots a pale figure he had half forgotten about and lowers the card...and stares...
"It can't be..." he says in a half whisper as he watches the bare footed woman approaching them, his eyes wide in recognition and shock. Once he manages to collect sense enough, he speaks up "D...Dio, is that you?"

Ovid gives wave to the woman that is approaching slightly surprised at her being barefoot. "Hail, and well met M'lday. What brings you out on such an unpleasant day ?"

Dio, her thoughtful look changes to a warm and pleasant smile.
She steps towards the group. When her voice does not have to be raised to be heard, she stops.
A nod to Dante.
"Yes, it is me. You remembered me, Dante. Thank you. "
She then inclines her head to the other man her pleasant smile stays on her lips.
"A pleasure to meet you, sir. My name is Dionisia, though often i am called Dio.
I am traveling towards friends in Amber. This is as far as i could get via the easy ways"

"That is our ultimate destination as well. As you know Dante and you both seem amiable, please Dio, join us." "I am Ovid and this is Anna Mae."
He sweeps his arm to indicate Anna.
"Did you travel through Arden ?" he inquires of Dio.

Dante cannot help the awkward, almost boyish smile that appears on his face in response to her acknowledgement of him, "Well, hard to forget the literal girl from your dreams."
"Well, since you are headed in that direction perhaps we can travel together? There's so much I want to ask you and, well I would say safety in numbers, but after what I saw what you could do, I'd never insult you by assuming you need any sort of protecting. But perhaps company?"
He spares a glance at Ovid "Amiable? You could say that...we met a long time ago and, well let's just say she left an impression. It was her meeting that pushed me to not give up on proving my multi-verse theory and find what you call Amber."
He smiles at her then, "I didn't give up, just as I promised..." Then his smile fades as he continues, "I also tried reaching you through the cards but...they never managed to connect beyond growing slightly cool. I am sorry I wasn't able to find you, nor track down your friend as I had offered to do."
