[OOC: edit? You'd have to be moving and concentrating for that, and in this firefight such an action will get Brian killed!] "Hardy-har-har," Shelly says to Carlos as she drops two of the soldiers in three shots. "But being pinned down here isn't getting us anywhere."Lorelei's spell blows up the vehicles and showers the group with flaming debris just as Lor and her new companion join them. Just then, the side of a building explodes, and a large beast - maybe a wolf or some such thing, but hairless and much, much larger - bursts forth. It charges towards a burning car, hits it and the vehicle tips on its' side, spilling ut burning fuel and burning men. The beast skitters to a stop, its claws raking the stone cobbles as it tries to halt its momentum, then turns and charges at Lorelei. "Woihdjncosj!" screams the officer through his gag. OOC: Thats fair, this is the most chaotic battle i've experienced in this system (excluding Ship Combat)
IC:
Brian fires on any Gernabs that are up and moving around. When the beast sallies forth he gives a long whistle. He tilts his head slightly to Carlos. " I don't suppose you have White Phosphorous Rounds? Depleted Uranium? Possibly some Flash Bangs?"
Brian pulls out a Flare Gun and takes aim and shoots the beast in the eyes with it. Trying to deafen or blind the creature to give Lor an opening.

As soon as Lorelei see the beast turn its attention in her direction and charge, more words in her almost understandable native tongue flow from her lips. There is an instantaneous sound of pipes under the street experiencing the water-hammer effect. Anyone glancing at the nearby fire-hydrant sees the value twist open under the force of the contained water. The cap that must normally be removed before the hose can be connected is propelled by a jet of water, striking the beast squarely between the eyes. The stream of water wraps itself around the beast and lifting it into the air, holding it roughly five feet in the air with its legs pointed toward the sky.
Having cast two power-hungry spells back-to-back, some of the color seems momentarily drained from Lorelei's face.
Half-jokingly she asks, "Does anyone want to play with the pinata?" .

"Cover Me." He tuns in with his sword and attacks the creature. Doing his best to fall back out of its way if it breaks free from the power Lor is using to hold it.

[OOC: You all are getting too aggressive with your assumptions of success in what your doing and the lack of risk. Other Players are the same. I might need to kill off a couple of you to return some fear and caution to your actions!]

The group is still caught between German soldiers firing from either end of the street. They have reduced their numbers but more reinforcements keep coming. The fog is beginning to diminish and the soldiers are focusing their fire on the beast without doing it any harm. Unfortunately, they are not the greatest of marksmen and their bullets often come dangerously close to the group.
Lorelei's spell lifts the creature up in a fountain of water. It tosses and turns and roars in frustration.
Brian charges (amid the protestations of his bird) and some of the Germans begin to fire at him. The bullets do not penetrate his armour but the impact does slow him down and knock him off balance.
The creature gets its self out of the water and charges Brian, knocking him aside with a massive shoulder check then resumes its' charge at Lorelei.

Brian coughs a bit as he gets up. He looks at the Bird. " Your protests are noted." He makes his way back towards the creature using his gun on it this time. He does his best to avoid the German weapons fire and hope that Carlos and Shelly hold their position. The creature being the definite bigger threat.
He calls to Carlos.
" you got an option for breaking the lines? Or do we need to get the puppy pointed at them?"

As the beast looks like is is starting to get loose from the water, Lorelei hands the enemy officer off to one of the others. He might have some useful information they could extract if they can just get out from under enemy fire.
She really doesn't want to hurt the poor beast. If it were sentient and intent on causing her harm she would no doubt fell different. Also, the thought of peeling a third spell off her Broken Pattern in such a short span is not something she wanted to do. Turning so that she has the option of jumping forward or backward out of the way at the last second, she grips her sword but doesn't yet draw it.
Judging the distant, Lorelei thrusts her other hand forward, palm out, and with every bit of Psyche she can pack behind it she yells the command, "STOP!!!" If it fails to stop, she dives out of the way, rolling to her feet with her sword drawn. She is hoping body-language will be enough to get a response if she has used the wrong spoken language... and that the beast actually stops... .

Brian breaks with what he is doing to grab the German soldier. [ OOC: Because I think I am the only one who can] He moves back towards Carlos and Shelly with the German. He calls back to Lor. "This better work, or your mother will be unbelievably cross at me." He things to himself. ~ If Lor pulls this off, maybe I close distance with the German soldiers and engage them directly to break out.....that might be the best plan~ He starts to work through options to break the current situation where they are surrounded
OOC:
Priorities #1: Recover German and get him back to where Shelly and Carlos are #2: Back up Lor
#3 Keep Shelly alive

Lorelei's command causes the beast to miss a step. It gives her enough time to dive away, but not enough to avoid it's massive jaws locking onto her leg and then swinging her about. It's teeth pierce through her armour and she feels a numbness in her leg.
Dodging, and getting struck by, bullets, Brian gets back to the others. Carlos and Shelly are busy firing at the Germans on one side. The man is too busy taking into his radio to answer Brian.
The officer, already shot twice by Lorelei, hasn't fared well being tossed about and is most certainly dead. To find out for sure, Brian would have to spend time trying to find a pulse or breath.
Above the regular sound of gunfire come two very loud shotgun blasts. Two large rents appear in the beast's side.

Above the regular sound of gunfire come two very loud shotgun blasts. Two large rents appear in the beast's side. I check for a pulse. If he's dead no reason to tug a body about. I've done that before. Upon hearing the Shotgun blast I turn to Carlos "Friend of yours?"

Lorelei's attention is understandably restricted. With her Pattern Blade in hand, she drives the point through the beast's skull. As she is slung about, her blade moves around inside its skull turning its brain into coleslaw... .

The giant beast continues to swing Lorelei about, smashing her against the street and building walls. She attempts to grab for her sword but she is being tossed about too much to get a proper grip.
another shotgun blast rips into the creature then it runs off down the side street Lorelei used a few minutes earlier. With the speed of a locomotive it runs with Lor in its griping maw. She pulls her sword free and gets one weak swipe at the side of the creature's head before her sword falls from her hand and clatters away across the cobblestones.
A few steps later the beast, bleeding and panting, drops her to the street and runs off.
She lays in pain and dizziness. Some sort of concussion to go along with all the other injuries.
Her sword is placed beside her and see looks up to see a large man standing at her side. Dalt, it must be Dalt from the rumours she has heard of the man.
"You'll live," he grunts and then walks off.

BRIAN:
"Dunno. Probably," Carlos says not looking over. His focus is on continuing to fire at the enemy.
Shelly gasps and goes down from a wound.
There is the sound of even more guns being added to the party and Brian sees soldiers in the direction they were heading when all this combat began starting to fall. It seems some sort of cavalry has shown up at one end of the street.

IC: Brian takes a moment to Bandage Shelly's wound to make her save enough to travel. " Looks like I'm going to have to carry you through a warzone injured again."

[ooc: ah, you posted before I got my edit in to add that Hammett & crew have shown up at one end of the street. Not that Brian knows what a 'Hammett' is.]
