This is a thread for us to share what is common knowledge about our charcter at in Castle Amber. Looks like Calvera is about to speak with Hammet and Eivor.
I'll go first.
Calvera is the son of Eric and Doctor Isabella y Maya, now professora emeritus of applied metaphysics and sorcery at a small college in Ithaca (New York not Greece).
He was raised largely as a ward of King Random. And spent the time between Random taking the throne and Calvera walking the pattern as a page and then courier for the king. He spent 1 summer on ship with Gerard and part of a fall with Julian and the rangers. He has never served under Benedict. He used to be quite a fighter and was known to get into brawls at Bloody Bill's tavern.
Some time in his 20s he walked the pattern and vanished. He has been back to the castle a couple times since then but never stays long and doesn't really say where he has been. He doesn't have many friends in Amber (but plenty of drinking buddies). He was closest to King Random but that was a formal and often strained relationship.
He was a regular at the Castle for 10-20 years after the Pattern fall war.
Didn't show much interest in silly magic stuff.
Walked the pattern.
There are no Trumps of Calvera. Random had the only one and that has been destroyed. If you drew your own you might have one but it is not included in any family sets.

Nothing is known about Katerina publically at this time and she has no history in Amber. Eivor is aware that she has walked a shadow Pattern but again that is not generally known at this point. It depends on how Eivor roleplays this, but she is quite happy to be seen as a strange servant of the Gods. She has a cloak of mirrors, but the obviousness of this will fade before she boards the ship. Anyone specifically looking for magical objects on her will note that her clothes seem to be highly magical.
There are no known Trumps of Katerina and she appears on no family tree.

Post by Hammett on Oct 7, 2020 19:46:57 GMT
Hammett was born to a minor noble woman from the Golden Circle shadow of Ceridin, a major trading partner and ally of Amber. He doesn't know who his father is (or was, he assumes it was one of the dead or missing Princes), but the family resemblance and his physical abilities leave no doubt (or at least little doubt) that he is part of the bloodline.
He came to Amber and the Castle many years before the events of Corwin's books (The Pattern fall war, Bleys and Corwin attacking the castle, etc...) and spent a lot of time studying and working under Gerard, Bleys, King Eric and Fiona.
Just before the events of the first book series he up and left Amber. It is unsure if he walked the Pattern and took off, or left by other means. He did not return until after the end of the war (and the first book series). No one knows what he was doing or where he was during that time.
Back in Amber he became part of the court again, assisting King Random and the others in rebuilding and recovering from the events of the war. After a few years of that he left again into shadows. He seems to have been generally well liked by the family and staff of the castle and was well known in all the drinking establishments from the most refined and high-class to the scummiest dives the city of Amber has to offer.
Those who travel a lot through shadow or have any "unsavory" connections would know that he now runs a shipping company out of Ceridin with a few boats under his name and that he owns and runs a famous (or rather infamous) nightclub called Wormwood's in the city of Kasaba (a major port city in a shadow world just outside the rules and control of the Golden Circle and Amber). Wormwood's is known for attracting people of all sorts from all across shadows and for many backroom deals, conversations and meetings being made, both legal and illegal, but is also equally known for a place to have a good time, gamble and drink you worries away.
There are trumps of Hammett but not in a regular deck, they should only exist if someone made one themselves or Hammett gave them one of himself.

:: What other Players might know second or third hand::
Brian showed up in Amber around the time of the recent unpleasentness with the King, Queen, and Gerald. He became a regular in Bloody Bills/Bloody Andys/Bloody **name to be determined later** with his arrival. The area of said Tavern and adjacent sections of Amber became SUBSTANTIALLY less violent when Brian was around. Brian has been playing tourist in Amber and has been using coins from various different shadows. Most particularly those of an Old and distant Shadow realm known as Ayalos.
He recently arrived at the Castle claiming to be the High King of Ayalos. Something Fiona seemed to acknowledge

Natalia is the daughter of Corwin and Queen Ecin of The Connaught kingdom in Ireland, which is in a shadow where The Romans stayed out of the area and the Vikings were traders, not raiders. She's never been to Amber. She walked her father's pattern. Her father disappeared around the time Nat was two or three. She had an older twin, Nicholas, who died shortly before Corwin left. She does not have any memories of her brother or father from her youth.
Ecin placed many restriction on her as a child and teen so growing up Natalia never felt comfortable to be herself. After all princesses are not allowed to be tomboys; it merely wasn’t done. While most girls dream of being a princess, Natalia dreams of adventure. A few years ago Corwin reappeared. He told her he had been captured, held poisoner and her older half brother Merlin had set him free. Now he was offering her freedom. Freedom from the dresses, the corsets, and uncomfortable pinchy shoes her mother insisted she wear. Freedom from the elaborate hairstyles that left her with splitting headaches. Nat took it without a moment thought. Nat decided that if her mom can’t find her, then she doesn’t have to be queen.
Nat's had quite a few adventures now. However, things have gone a little wonky back home with Corwin.
That's all I've got so far folks.

She is a princess in both parent's castles. However, she's only been named heir to her mother's throne. Corwin hasn't named an heir yet, though most of the staff assume that he'll name her. But then things have gone wonky, so....
Plus, she doesn't want to be Queen. She'd rather be out fighting dragons...

Brian, you took Ayalos as a shadow of the realm so it is close to Amber and known well by the elders and probably some of the PCs as well.

Then folks will know there was some sort of Religious Clerical War in Ayalos.
And that Ayalos had a High King who resolved the crisis in the Clerical war.

Han Xu Liang is a short oriental man who recently arrived in the port of Amber. He generally dresses in cream coloured clothes with green or emerald trim. He seems to be a young man drawn to Amber as many are, taking in the sights of the eternal city.
He has shown some magical aptitude, though whether it is real or sleight of hand is probably still debated.
His companion Kai is unusual. A small lion or large dog that is a bright shade of orange with emerald ears and paws. It’s head and paws appear oversize compared to it’s skinny body and legs. It moves much quieter than something that size should and can speak.

Post by Lorelei on Oct 8, 2020 8:45:50 GMT
Lorelei is the daughter of Corwin and Queen Moire of Rebma. She is young-looking, tall and slim, has long black hair, jade colored cat-like eyes, and a pale pinkish complexion. Looking at her, there is no doubt that she is of noble Rebman blood, but she also strongly resembles Faiella's brood... She moves with the slow grace that only a lifetime underwater can produce, and mirrors her mother's command presence... At her side hangs a sword that seems eerily familiar. On her left forearm is coiled what seems to be a thin metallic eel. Her outfit, what there is of it, in Rebman fashion, looks like silver scales on a black backing...
She has only been to Castle Amber once before, under Llewella's care for the duration of the visit, when she was introduced to the rest of the family that was present, including Corwin (or his double) and Merlin (so this may have been a long time ago).
Those who have gone to Rebma (or have spies there) can find out that she has received training in sorcery, and the mirror magic of that realm...

Post by Eivor on Oct 8, 2020 14:53:23 GMT
Eivor came to Amber during the Interregnum and walked the Pattern at that time, but did not stay once the war was over and Random took the throne. It is his death that has prompted her return. She is generally direct to the point of bluntness and cares little for social niceties. Rarely seen without armor or a weapon, if she has a subtle gentler side she keeps it well-hidden. She is a 6' tall muscular woman with a serious countenance, her fair hair in braids and her eyes of emerald green. Little else is known about her as she has been away from Amber for so long. There are no known trumps of Eivor.

Nat, are you still reading the books? How far along are you? I'm still worrying about spoilers! I am, but with the other games I play in I've been spoilt for some of it. I'm about a chapter and a half into Sign of the Unicorn.

Post by Brennon on Oct 13, 2020 5:24:14 GMT
Brennon is a menace on the shipping lanes of the Golden Circle, but seems to avoid anything requiring more than one ship, or flying Amber's official royal/trade flag(s). He's a privateer, a smuggler, and a pirate, and has an enchanted ship. He will haunt the less patrolled sea lanes of the Golden Circle for months, then vanish for most of a year. Sometimes his ship has been seen doing legitimate business.
**He has never been directly to Amber or Rebma, or even to shadows and waters right next door to Amber.**
He never carries or takes slaves, his prisoners are always ransomed for profit instead of killed, and his goods quickly become untraceable, making it hard to prosecute him even if his ship could be caught. He has no personal flag, and carries a packet of letters of marque making most of his seizures "legitimate seizures of war". There probably isn't anything else known about him from Amber castle, and even that much is only if people take an interest in the maritime trade. He's a rogue but a man of principle; no prisoners have reported starvation, rape, or excessively rough handling. Small/light but expensive cargo is his main target, and he has had a number of close calls and near-impossible escapes. He can apparently smell a trap from across several miles of open sea, much less in port.
