Bella knelt down to ascertain the nature of the marks. She took a deep breath and summoned the Logrus lens, so she could search for magical clues as well as mundane.

#s://i~ibb~co/WzVDzjf/1472518622754~jpg Investigation of the scratches reveals nothing of magical origin or effect, just the sign of mortal terror or madness probably due to imprisonment on the ship.
While staring at the makings she hears a loud popping noise quickly followed by a thud. Looking around she sees a small man drssed in an outlandish purple suit struggling to get up after landing in a pile of rolled silks. One hand reaches about for this ochre-coloured tophat the other holds up a tarot card with the same ship's hold painting that Bella has.
"Oh, where's my hat?" he fumes, "I didn't expect this at all."
He coughs a bit amid the cloud of dust his arrival kicked up.

Bella turned to inspect the man with an air of bored disdain, "Curious." She kept the Logrus Lens up to inspect him, in case he tried to do anything untoward.

"Eh, say what?" the man says while finally getting a hold of his hat. Sitting up he takes a wide-eyed look at Bella.
"I found your lost card." he says holding out his tarot of the ship's hold.
Through Bella's enhanced sight the man appears to be normal. The card has the usual glow of a trump powered item.

Having identified the man as 'normal' and not hearing any warning from her ravens (Danger Sense), Bella took the card, replying, "It is not my card, though I would be very interested in knowing how the card came into your possession? I am trying to find out who is responsible for bringing me to this... place..."

The man ducks behind a row of barrels, but not low enough to hide the top of his hat.
"I was in Begma - awful place - and came across a deck of cards. This one looked interesting and the next thing you know *pop* here I am.
"Heavens to Murgatroyd, it's hot in here."

Bella gave a psychic order to her ravens to watch the stranger, dropping Corbi from her cloak to do so. Corbi flew over to the boxes the man was unsuccessfully hiding behind and pecked at his hat.
Bella walked over to a crate and lay the two ship hold cards next to one another. For the moment, she was content to ignore the man and give her full attention to the cards, particularly to the back of the cards. She also took the card she collected from the man and the card she took from the witch, laying them beside these cards and comparing them.
After another moment, she lay the card of the "wanderer" beside them as well...

[ooc: it looks like the man only had one card, not a whole bunch; the one he grabbed and used]

Yup, I lost track of that bit. I edited it out.

"Away! Away, you foul bird," the small man says to the rave while pulling his hat off and hiding it behind his back.
All the cards have a similar hand-painted backing of a geometric pattern of blue, green, and yellow shapes. The fronts of the cards all appear to be painted by the same person, even if the style of each image is different. The two for the ship's hold are nearly identical with only slight differences in the details as if they were painted at different times. While looking closely at the two ship cards Bella can feel their force trying to pull her through, probably to a position a few feet aft of where she stands.
Since Bella seems to be unconcerned about being found by the ship's crew the man calms himself and begins to take a look about the hold, daintily picking up the edges of rugs and bales to see what is underneath all the while muttering something under his breath. After a few minutes, Bella realizes that he is tallying up the value of the goods.

Bella looked over her shoulder at the small man, "Mind your tongue about my flock, if you please, or Corbi will feast on your bones. And I wouldn't pocket anything if I were you... This ship is cursed."
Since the man seemed otherwise engaged, she put away trumps of the hold and lifted the Pilgrim again. For now, he seemed to be the only way off of the ship, so she called Corbi to her shoulder and withdrew to a corner of the hold, so that the old fool couldn't get behind her, then held up the Pilgrim's card and focused on it again, "Is this your doing? Is this your doing? Is this your doing?" She repeated over and over in a calm tone like a mantra.
If he came close enough to tap her again with anything again, she reach out and try to grab him, pulling herself through, if she had to.

As Bella begins to concentrate on the card she hears rustling and the sound of metal-on-metal from where the man is then the klunk klunk of his attempted but failed stealthy treading up the steps to the deck.
Looking deep into the card the image of the Pilgrim fades and is replaced by utter darkness with the sensation of currents flowing through waters; deep, deep the waters must be down at the bottom of a great sea or shadow-spanning ocean. There is no sense of the Pilgrim's mind or any connection to sentience.

Bella shared her favorite demonic swear words. It seemed that the Pilgrim had become a worthless dead end as well. Sighing, she tucked the cards into her bodice again and walked back to the captain's quarters and closed the door behind her. She needed time to think.
She scoured the captain's quarters for parchment, pens, quills, and ink, as she began to plan a spell that would summon a storm and hopefully free the ship, and her, from this predicament.

The captain's quarters are small but comfortable enough for Bella to begin work. From above deck she can hear the man humming some sort of sea chanty and a scraping sound from some project he is engageed in.

Once Bella had the basic structure and function of the forces at work within this peculiar piece of shadow, she went over the whole thing again with great care. It was a hell of a working. Large, and it would have to be. At least as far as she could see, and then even further. And it would have to last, hours? Perhaps days? She'd settle for hours. Summoning the twisting Logrus, she checked on the status of her fog spell, she'd need one to work with, if only to keep to her idiom.
With the spell worked out, Bella unbarred the door and walked to the bow of the ship. If the strange man had managed to get the ship going merely by singing at the sea, she'd torture the truth out of him. If they were still stuck, however, she'd cast her Fog Spell, shrouding herself and the ship in a dense fog bank, then she'd intone the Thari and Demonic lynchpins of her "Summon the Sea Storm" spell.
