"Business?" Bella turned her head in mock surprise, "So you believe that piracy is essential to Bailey's political stability, do you?" She shook her head, "You have missed the point entirely, my dear petty pirate lord. If this city will not give up its criminal enterprises entirely, then I will crush it under my heel and bury its foundations under its sinful corpses. I've not come to liberate this city. I've come to make it mine."
She drew her black blade, crackling with demonic deadly damage power, from its scabbard, "If I must turn the city into an funeral pyre to do so, well..." She lifted her blade in a polite salute, "At least I'll be warm. Defend yourself!"

The man takes a few steps back then draws his sword.
"I have seen something of your powers and the beasts which attend you; will you fight fair in this contest?" he asks as he steps into an en garde position.

Bella laughed with a dismissive wave of her hand, "A murdering thief asking for a fair fight... How very quaint. My dear murderous captain, where I come from, codes of honor are our highest virtues." She steps forward with a slow thrust of her blade to bait a parry, switching into a false engage, then a playful riposte. "I promise that you will enjoy the fairest duel that you are entitled to."
Then she engaged him with all the speed and skill that she can muster in a flurry of feints, headcuts, and thrusts, her black sword flickering with flaming power.

#s://i~ibb~co/WnJDWxn/pirate3~jpg Bella finds the pirate to be a proficient swordsman, he attacks are parried side and he doesn't succumb to the temptation of her feints. Still, she attacks with enough ferocity to have him constantly slowly retreating across the ship's deck.
"I still do not see why we need to have this fight," he says through gritted teeth while parrying a slash from her sword.

Bella replied with a menacing giggle, "I'm curious if anyone has ever asked you that. Why the senseless murder? Why the callous robbery? We're all monsters, are we not?" She pressed her advantage, letting him retreat further along the deck. "However, if you must know, you stand in the way of a new order in Bailey. Not you specifically, of course, but your kind... the amoral brigand, filling your pockets at the expense of honest men..."
She launched a feint at his bicep then quickly dropped the tip of her blade under his guard and thrust toward his thigh near his grown, before taking a quick step back and returning to a guard. "You stand in the way of progress, and I've put my mind to exorcising every one of you personally, until I establish just rule in this town, even if it means I must fill the city streets with blood."

#s://i~ibb~co/WnJDWxn/pirate3~jpg "It won't work, you know." he replies sidestepping her feint and parrying away her attack. "The people of the city do not want their streets to run red. For every one you kill a dozen more will stand against you. Better to find a ghost town and make your justice."
As Bella steps back the pirate kicks a bucket of slop at her it just sails over her shoulder. Some of the stuff sprays onto her clothes.

Bella shifted her blade to her left hand, holding it level with the captain's chest, and wiped the filth from her shoulder. "Rude..." Slipping the blade deftly back to her right hand, she wondered aloud, "All the men who died by your hand on ships at sea... Did they want their ship to run red with their blood?"
"Hypocrite," she finished coolly. "I was considering taking these men into my service... If they are as ill mannered as you are, then it would be a waste of my time." She renewed her attack, while shouting an order in Thari to her flock of demons, "The captain is mine, but tear the men of this ship to pieces!"
Her flesh bubbled into her demonic form, feathers rippling about her sharp eyes, Bella had grown bored with the repartee and sought to bind the captain's blade, so she could lash out with a kick of one of her talons exposed from her boot aimed directly at his thigh.

#s://i~ibb~co/WnJDWxn/pirate3~jpg The ravens look about confused. The last of the other men had deserted the ship in greed or fear when the treasure was dropped or after when the fight started. As Bella begins to shapeshift the pirate cuts a rope with his sword. A huge spar swings across the deck striking Bella in the chest and tossing her onto a cauldron of tar and the small brazier below it. There is the smell of burning feathers and the sound of jeers and cheers from locals on the shore pointing and hooting at Bella. There is a splash and once Bella looks up from the tar the pirate is gone.

Bella sighed and rose to her feet, casually brushing the embers from her feathers. With a cursory wave toward the laughing onlookers, and mentally set her Ravens upon them, allowing them to feed. She walked back along the ship, searching for the Captain's quarters. Though things did not go entirely to plan, she reminded herself that there was no need to rush her efforts to cleanse Bailey of its corruption.
It was becoming evident, however, that she'd underestimated the depth of corruption that Amber's influence had inflicted on this Shadow. She suspected now that the entire city was entirely and hopelessly corrupt. This would require a shift in tactics. As she searched through the pirate captain's quarters, she brought up the Logrus Lens to aid in her search then pondered over just how normalized criminal enterprises had become.

The birds get to work among the scattering onlookers, and very quickly the streets run red.
Inside the captain's cabin are the usual seagoing items and a few souvenirs, some of which are valuable, others worthless except for sentimental value. The logbook contains pages of poorly written notes, spelling mistakes when they are found crossed out, but many of the errors were not realized and all is covered in ink drops from a poorly cut quill. The entries tell of slaver ships captured and the slaves set free, wicked captains killed and their impressed crews freed, evil lords made to walk the plank and their ill-gotten gains claimed by the pirate's crew. Oddly the log's first entry is only from a few months earlier.

So the fool thought he'd cure the corruption of Bailey by turning into a scavenger among the scavengers? The poor, deluded fool...
Still, that poor, deluded fool had managed to get the best of her and escaped with his life. Bella tossed the log book to the floor and screamed in frustration. She decided that she hated this man.
After all, she though as she brushed her hands of the grit of the cabins, she had given him an opportunity to give up his sinful ways and aid her in her quest to cleanse this city, but he chose instead to cling to his delusions of righteousness, nibbling futilely at the foundations of the corruption that festered throughout the city. Ridiculous.
Bella summoned a Logrus tendril and caused it to become a hot brand then used it to burn a note into the floor of his cabin. This is not over.
Taking something that seemed like it would have significant sentimental value to the man (a diary or a locket, perhaps), Bella called her Raven demons back to her as she strode back out onto the deck. With her Ravens back under her cloak, she spoke her command word for her Teleportation spell and returned to her home in Bailey, where she plotted anew.
