"I would normally like one for company, but my spirit bird is much smaller." said to Hal.
He looks then to Brian, "Your friend here mentioned travelers, are you a traveler among the many places. Some things you bare stand out a bit. Signs of travels elsewhere or at the least far realms here I have not been too."
He adjusts a lantern on his desk to cast a shadow outward from where he taps a pressure gauge.

I laugh "I am not from around here no. I am from a Place named Ayalos.....you've likely not heard of it. Before that I was from a place called Virginia." If Ovid has been to earth since Virginia has been a place there.....its clear Brian wants one from Shadow who might know of other worlds to think its a Shadow but.....you think its the one on Earth. If you know about such a thing.

Ovid nods, "Far wanderer, I understand. I even understand family matters to a degree. I will get you to K city. Be here tomorrow bright an early before the race starts. I will have a suit for you, helmet too if you want one. The race usually commences quite early though I suggest you have a light breakfast and bring something to drink on the way, something with a straw. It just helps. I will go over the different controls with you again before things start and then we will burn rubber all the way to the bright lights and big city. You will get there fast and depending on your proclivities possibly have fun doing so."

I nod and part. Returning with what looks like Military fatigues.....I am prepared for the race.....and strangely so to is the bird. This is not the sort of gear a man would find here......unless he "Just found it." I nod to Ovid.
The Raven looks at me from its helmet "You sure this is going to work?"

"Morning, alright those look like they will work out just fine." a glance then towards Hal, "Nice helmet." Then looking back to Brian, "You have rather unique resources." He had the duo get in and once again went over the controls for the weapons. "Put in something last night can electrify the shell in case some moron leaps on the car. This is the control for that. It has it's own battery so don't worry about it draining power, still even though it is showy don't over use it."
He brought the car to the race start where it was checked out and Ovid spoke with some track staff who were checking out the cars including his. All kinds of vehicles were at the start from motorcycles to tank like things. Only a few of those whose pilots were trading curses.

I try to hold of the excitement at the nature of the race. Inside me is a person giddy that I'm living in a video game

At the start of the race the flag waves and some vehicles go rushing forward taking off and gaining a head start while Ovid and many of the other drivers stay clumped up as they roll out of the starting line. That is when the first sounds of people opening up fire on the cars out ahead begins. So much directed fire power drives the cars off the track, one even explodes in almost movie grade fashion. The fire it is engulfed in sets off it's own ammo and that side of the track starts taking hits. Ovid shakes his head, "Brian, you ever end up doing this remember never race ahead at the start. People have too much ammo and are more then happy to..." There was a loud explosion to the right of the vehicle as the tanks finally jockeyed into position to fire at each other.
The fans behind feintly glowing forcefields roared in approval some standing and applauding others waving banners for their favorite drivers or vehicle.
Now cars began moving out in different patches to avoid the shelling. Large patches of road became craters. Depending on Brian's knowledge of such things the yield of shells actually hitting each other was much less then the ones destroying the scenery.
Ovid kept with his little gathering of cars keeping his hands tight to the wheel and monitoring what he could of the competition. Driving hard to keep towards the front of the pack and keeping evasive. "We don't want someone right behind us, because they will be lining up a shot."
He left the toys of the vehicle to Brian seeing what things the man would choose.

I understand the systems, but lacks the familiarity of one who has used such things.....I am however a quick study. I've been a soldier long enough its able to guide me through
I try to push cars into each other to evade the ordinance barrage.....and to force them to slow down behind us....to bunch up....to bottle neck

Brian is able to get the cars hung up on each other for a few twists and turns. Several cars are firing at each other and getting dinged up. A few spiraling off from oil slicks. Some from the occasional stray shot hitting a lucky target causing a loss of control. After a few turns a long straightaway comes into view and a few of the clumps of cars are already down twenty percent. Far in the back the heavy vehicles are still having their private battles. The sound of their ordinance drowning out lesser weapons.
"See the straightaway." He waited just a brief moment, "It is about to become real dangerous for a lot of people and were going to do our part. Oil or caltrops your choice, others will leave mines, or other things out there."
Ovid took to the straightaway going from the inner part of the track to a glide to the outer part. To leave whatever Brian chose before steadying and bringing things back. A few tack tack sounds of getting hit be some shots as he glided had Ovid looking at the little damage report on the screen. Things still being in the green he revved and took off down the straight away to join the pack of cars ahead of them.

I go with oil, to best deal with the mines.
I set some smoke grenades behind us as well

Ovid grew silent as he was focused on the course ahead littered with the wrecks of vehicles that hadn't made it. As Brian sprayed oil the vehicles behind tried to evade but it was made all the harder when the smoke filled the air mixing with the smoke of other ruined vehicles. Explosions from some hitting mines they couldn't see happened behind them and a tire bounced off of them from one such explosion.
Ovid's eyes scanned the road taking some turns and finding a clean patch of pavement. He accelerated finally away from the field of random death traps behind them he let out a slow steady breath. He tested things readjusting for the new balance of the vehicle without as much extra oil supplies.
When he caught up with the next gathering of vehicles there were some stragglers hanging on. He opened up with the scrapnel cannons to clear a way into the pack.

I put some supressing fire down to help put a strong close on the table for the race. I let myself give off some excitement.

Ovid let's Brian take over in clearing the road.
"Having fun, Hal ?" He could already tell Brian was having fun.
When Ovid was in the clear again he accelerated. He looked off ahead seeing a motorcycle bouncing between cars. One car swerving to get away from the cycle driver. Ovid slowed and moved to avoid the cars when he caught up. "Brian don't let the little bastard on the bike get close electrify the hull if he does."
A chain reaction of explosions from the cars the motorcycle had been bouncing between happened. "That's why, I've seen him in another race."
Moving to the outside for a bit and slowly accelerating again he flipped the button cover up by the steering wheel.
Another car began pacing them an attractive woman with prosthetic cat ears winked at the two.

And I pull out a spear and chucks it between the wheels of the Bike and it goes flying. And the woman with Cat ears pulled neck and neck as we pull into the final run of the race.

Ovid sees Brian open his door to throw the spear. He adjusted his speed and position when the wind drag increased dramatically. When the spear actually hit and the motorcycle went airborn he risked a quick look to Brian as he slowed down enough so Brian could close the door. "That was an amazing throw, we should go hunting some time."
He then snapped his eyes back to the last stretch and noticed they were still being paced.
He began charging up the energy canon. Both vehicles clashed tire shredding blades spinning out of their housings. Sparks then bits of metal flew off. The shredders had done their job to each other leaving the wheels mostly intact. Up ahead was a ramp and the cars parted as they hit the ramp and went airborn. Ovid hit a button and they accelerated mid air but so too did their driving partner.
When they hit the pavement both vehicles fishtailed a bit when they landed. Both leaning into the glide to fire weapons. Some kind of slimey goo came from the other vehicle but the energy beam cut through the slime and hit the other vehicle. Where the goo hit a sizzle could be heard.
Both vehicles straightened again. Ovid pushed for the finish line. One finger hovering over a button.
