"Reverence for a unicorn-like deity." There is a moment of silence and when Mara answers there is a soft repect in her voice. "I know the religion of the Unicorn."
"So I do not know if all that is said about her is true." She continues. "You know all this history becomes legend and legend become myth thing."

This gives Dante pause, to which he nods "of course, but even the most outlandish myth and legend starts from something. The duty and the curse of the historian is pealing back the layers and finding the truth at its center...I'd be very eager to hear what you know of the Unicorn...you say it's a religion? Was it practiced back where you came from?"

"Different forms are practised, some more strict, other more lenient, some very formal, other more for the individual. Payers, donations, holy days."
Mara explains. "In some place you find Churches, in other only small shrines, or just a holy grove."
She smiles softly. "I'm not a very good follower. I guess. I only take part in the cermonies if it is demanded from me. I consider religion a private matter, nothing you should enforce. But that is just me."
"How does a historian tries to find the truth in a myth, when the myth is more then a millenia old, maybe even older." Mara asks.

Dante chuckles "Now that is half of the challenge; sifting through myth and stories like one would sift through sand to find a lost relic. My foster parents used to say, 'the greatest tools a historian will ever have is an open mind, an eye for details, and the patience of eternity'...though admittedly, that last part is the hardest to maintain most days...But I've had many years to hone those skills."
He then nods "You'll face no judgement from me, like you said, a person's faith and religion is a personal and private thing, and I'm hardly one to judge...especially considering one of the titles I'm known by is God Killer...well, that's the approximation of what the giants call me...trust me it's far less flattering if you speak the language"

"God Killer, indepent that Fafanir might have reaped what he sowed, that kind of name is a burden. A burden of good and evil. The giants will continue to hate you and other people here will look for your protection. You will be in between and maybe alone." Mare replies.
"Was it worth it, are the giants keeping the peace?"

Dante lowers his gaze and sighs quietly, saying quietly "you're very perceptive...I've been alone for a long time. I don't mind the isolation, as long as I keep busy."
He then shakes his head "Their power base and leadership was broken. They're just as likely as to fight each other as us; trying to determine which of them will lead the rest in the only way that they know how, by killing each other. Occasionally they launch raids against the city, or the castle. But we've since fortified those areas defenses and without the magic of Fafnir to augment their assaults, they don't stand a chance. Though we do need to have all convoys and excavation teams heading to the Castle need to be heavily guarded."

"Keeping yourself busy helps." Mara replies wiht a short smile. "I do that myself, I coulde lie on a palm beach drinking fany alcohol with little umbrellas. But I prefer to run around couriously."
" Keep an eye on the giants, before they breed the next Fafnir."
"What is funny about the Fafnir myth I encountered is that Fafnir's brother Regin turned into a dwarf. A very powerfull, strong and vicious dwarf. And another brother who died early on was called Otur and was a shapeshifter. Otur was killed by a god name Loki."

Dante chuckles "last time I was on a beach I was digging looking for signs of an ancient shipwreck...should've thought about the alcohol with little umbrellas."
He shakes his head "unlikely, the giants running around now are nothing like Fafnir. He possessed...a power I guess you could call it? A power over the world itself; controlling the weather, caused earthquakes, even could call down storms. He was also far larger than other giants around."
"Interesting...The names appear in other myths and legends from the Nexus, but they don't appear to be the same as the ones you speak of."

"Interesting indeed. Do you think a historian could find out the origin of a mystical perons by following the legends through the different worlds?"
"Finding the source behind it" Mara looks at Dante.

He considers what she has said for a bit before answering "now that...would be a hell of a challenge...varying religions, reactions to reality norms and variations of species of all kinds not to mention evolutions of cultures...a historian would have to be a certifiable madman to want to take on a challenge like that..." He then grins at her "sounds like fun"

"Sounds like you were the right man for it." Mara give back with a smile.
She looks ahead to check how far it is still to the castle.

With the conversation and the mild influence of luck on her part, the castle is within view, having made amazing time. The crystal of the walls catching and reflecting the light, making it amazingly eye-catching and creating a shimmering rainbow of color cast across the sky.
He returns that smile and chuckles "hope you're right. Ah wow, I've never made this good a time up the mountain. We'll be there in no time."

"The castle looks beautiful. Amazing. Like A Jewel." Mara admires the sight and then continues to follow Dante.

He nods "Funny you should call it that. the castle itself has had many names, one of them, used most by the giants, they said that because it looked like a great jewel in the sky and that their god sat in his throne on high in judgement of all beneath him, they called it the Jewel of Judgement...bit dramatic but I see their point..."
He sighs as they continue. Fortunately, with their good time being made, they arrive just before nightfall at the main gates; massive doors made of the same shimmering material as the castle walls. He approaches machinery specially designed to open and close the doors, as they are far too enormous for a lone individual to open by hand, and the machines open the gates just wide enough for them to step inside. Though the courtyard has no covering, thus should be exposed to the elements, there's not one flake of snow marring the crystal ground, and sconces upon the walls glow a gentle blue light, illuminating the courtyard.

"Jewel of Judgment." She grins. "Sorry I have heard that term before and the object with this titel has not very much in commmon with this here."
"What material has been used to build this castle, gemstone? It doe no even look like it was build, more like it was conjured." Mara follows you inside. "Did you add these machines?"
