Dio and Hammett:Dio manages to assist Hammett by using the Logrus tendrils to injure the demons near him. This would usually be a quick and easy job but the need to avoid the aura of Lorelei's spell hampers her work. Hammett has learned a few new tricks and has powered up his sword, yet is still amazed at how easily he can cut through the surrounding demons - sometimes without even touching them! They both find themselves isolated from any other attackers just in time to watch Edmund and Pinewer enter the battle poorly. Other deomans beyond Hammett's reach and unable to reach him, gasp and wince in sympathy as they see Dorian fall. A few chuckle, but most have better manners. OOC: How is Vada doing?

Brian and Lorelei:
Brian's feint works, and Vada dodges right into the trap he planned. The woman is agile enough to partially dodge again. Still, just then, Lorelei's spell strikes her, and she is frozen with one foot on the ground, the other stretched out behind her, mid ripost with her sword like an infernal ballet dancer frozen at the start of her jeté.
"Tricksy-" is all she manages to speak before the spell takes her.
Lorelei notices that her anchor spell is beginning to dissipate, not quick enough or in time to save Edmund and Pinewer, but it is coming undone, allowing the many remaining demons to become mobile again. Yet, oddly, the amount of fog in the room is increasing and climbing higher into the air obscuring sight more than a few meters in front of everyone.

I take Vada's head if I can putting a foot on her chest to hold her down and make the strike work true

When Dio notices no more demons able to attack near she holds the Logrus tendrils near her in case she needs to quickly strike again. Now she has the time she gazes up to the duo on the higher perch watching. Squinting to see if she can see faces properly or not. At the moment the mist rises Dio quickly scans the area for Mother Superior who was still in battle with the General the last time she saw them. Hearing the snapping and crushing bones at the unknown Edmund's entrance, makes her wince a bit but she gives that for the moment little thought to find Mother Superior before the mist grows to high and thick.

Brian:
The Sword of the High King of Ayalos strikes true, and the cowardly attack removes Lady Vada's head from her shoulders. Who knows what necessary, practical, and enlightening knowledge has been lost from the universe from such a dishonourable action? The sword seems to sigh in his hand as if the former kings, their long line stretching back deep into the mists of time, disapprove of this new upstart commoner who claims the right to wear the crown.

Dio:
The Mother Superior and General are still in their exact places, waiting for the spell to end and free them. As she watches, the rising fog obscures them but she can still make out a little of their threats to one another over the sound of the wailing horse.

I look at the sword for a moment. This...this was new....
~ Really? She had done great evil to this world, great evil to this people, how lucky could I continue to be. Is it honorable to allow Pinky to Die? Shelly? Lor who I have also sworn to keep safe?Give her the advantage of her strength to fell Hammett and I? It was unwise....I will grant that it was unwise...but honor to the point of vanity is no honor. Honor that does not shelter the weak is no honor.~
I turn to Vada's minions.
"Surrender. Or face destruction. The choice is yours."

As she watches, the rising fog obscures them but she can still make out a little of their threats to one another over the sound of the wailing horse. As the spell is dissipating that was holding them anchored Dio first checks the mist that is rising if it has the same pattern like attachments to it or not. She releases the hold on the Logrus tendrils she has either way, moving with them is harder and if this area is now tainted with the pattern it would only become more volatile. When Dio can move her feet again she will make sure to go low enough the mist covers her so sneaking about is easier. There was something Vada was looking for and Dio wants to see if she can now find it on the floor. (so she moves to where she last saw Vada and Brian fighting)

[[OCC: I guess this was a bad night to be away from the computer. Missed out on a lot.]]
Hammett watches as Vada's head comes lose from her shoulders. It was a shock, both that it happened, and how easy it seemed to be. A lesson that no one is truly immortal when there is a sharp enough blade handy.
But no time to ponder life and death at the moment, not when fighting over it was still at hand.
He hadn't cared much for Edmund when they met, but he was family and obviously needed medical attention. So Hammett begins to make his way to the fallen man, fighting through the remaining demons if he has too, but hoping that Brian's words have cause them to surrender or flee.
As he nears the man he shouts for Lorelei's attention. Maybe she would have a spell that could help. For now he guard's Edmund from any attack and looks about the battlefield to see where the other key players are and what they are doing now that Lady Vada is dead. Like the Burning Man and the Chained Man.

Having thrown her "Coat Rack" spell, Lorelei is satisfied to see Vada stiffen into immobility. Then she sees Brian drawn back into what can only be a beheading stroke. Lorelei yells, even as his blade begins to move, "Hold your strike. Vada must face justice before Amber and the Family over Gerard's death."
Between the battle-noise, the wounded cries of both sapient and beast, and the sound of hot surging blood in warrior veins, Lorelei is uncertain she was even heard.
The "Anchor" spell was unraveling and releasing, if not amplifying, the "Fog" upon which it rode. In moments it would be virtually impossible to navigate by vision. This made the scene much like the deep-sea where light never reached and her other senses guided her... sans buoyancy and panicked demons added...
Pinky is guarding Shelly, and the fog will hide them. The movement of the others are spreading her group thin. The only benefit of the fog is that it is preventing the opposing forces from organizing...
Lorelei moves forward into the fog, doing her best to dodge hostiles and engage in combat only where she must. She nearly steps on someone/thing moving low and stealthy through the fog.
Her first intended stop is to check on Edmund, but will she be drawn into something else first? There are still to many unknowns to plot her following actions at this moment... . [OOC: <groans> computer came unplugged... retyping...] .

#s://i~ibb~co/18nVMHw/edmund~png Hammett:There are no demons to hamper Hammett's path to Edmund, but they are moving around a bit and look to be about to break free of their immobilizing spell. The fog climbs higher and higher through the room. Pinewer continues to scream in pain. Edmund is trying to get back on his feet. His helmet is partially caved in on one side, and blood flows freely from it. The bent metal blocks one eye, and the other has a dilated pupil and looks unfocused. "Hammett?" he says in a spray of bloody spit and broken teeth, "Have you redecorated Wormwoods?"

Lorelei:
The something obscured by the fog grabs Lorelei's leg and trips her up. By the time she recovers, the person or thing has gone deeper into the mists.
She can continue to head towards Edmund by following the sound of the dying horse's bellowing.

Dio:
The spell causing the increasing fog does seem to have the shimmer of Pattern about it but not of the same flavour as Lorelei's workings. Who or what could have cast this is unknown to her.
Searching for the chest is difficult in this fog and among the ground now covered in dead demons and scattered demon blood and entrails. Luckily she has plenty of experience in holding her stomach contents down when working with viscera.
While groping through the fog, he bumps into the Sword of Chaos, who is also searching about the ground.
"Vada?" the women says to her.
