"Hey Chad, you seem like a reasonable fellow, though your hearing seems to be a little defective. Miss Simone is not receiving visitors, and is not going partying until she has recovered," Eivor explains with forced levity. "Now do hurry along. You wouldn't want to be the cause of any distress, either for me or the lady now would you?"

"The Lords of Kashfa do not take kindly to such lip from the staff," he says haughtily. "The Lady Simone is a capable woman and can speak for herself even while suffering from a mild head cold."

"Achooooo!" Kat produces a really large sneeze from the bathroom.
Hmm I wonder if Lord Chad of Kashfa is aware just who 'the staff' he thinks he's talking to is in reality.
Kat expects that the Goddess will ensure that he finds out pretty quickly and possibly painfully.

"Might I suggest if the nobles Lords of Kashfa wish to keep their teeth they should mind their manners when addressing a scion of Amber," Eivor replies icily.

Chad smiles even wider, if such a thing could be possible.
"Ah, like recognizes like!" he gives Eivor the slightest of bows.
"It's a rare Lady who would stand and speak for her servant. I am able to procure some healing herbs and poultices which would soo see your lady-in-waiting cured of her unfortunate illness. Simone will know where to find me."
After another of the slightest of bows, he leaves the doorway. And, finally, there seems to be a few minutes of peace and quiet to allow Kat to work with the mirror.
While the cottage is often used by Simone, there have been plenty of other guests occupying to rooms, and as Kat watches the images go by she is educated in all the disgusting procedures needed to make a person even possibly attractive. Never has she seen so much hair be removed from so many places using so many different techniques that her stomach churns at the kaleidoscopic sights. And nostrils! How in the worlds does so much hair grow in there and how many different ways, each more revolting than the last, do people remove it? And bare skin in all its sagging, splotchy, scarred, disease-ridden, and flabby existence. Armpits and their hairy growth being shaved, waxed, and plucked. Endless hours of makeup application, hair being styled and restyled, the occasional foot being lifted onto the counter in front of the mirror and disgusting toenails being cut, filed, and painted. Indiscrete touchings and couplings teach Kat the horrors of what happens in total rooms!
Amid all this are scenes of Simone going about her business. She is not perfect in her appearance, but does manage to be less offensive to the eye than many of the others. Katie has a few appearances. Coy as well, showing a preening vanity as he applies colognes and preens his hair.

She heads back in to see Eivor and shakes her head.
"Not much here except some pointers on Simone's mannerisms and a bunch of things I'd rather forget. Coy's image makes me like him even less than I already do, which I didn't think possible. I'm guessing that Kate won't know much more than she's already told us, but someone here must know something of what Coy was doing or his contacts. If we find his apartment we might see some of the deals he did here. The only other alternative is to question the 'party crowd'. The average level of intelligence here doesn't seem to be too high if Lord Chad is any example of the type."

"Personally, I don't think it's worth the investment of time and energy. If Simone is going to be at the banquet the queen may be in danger," Eivor says. "However, she may demand we return to Amber. If you'd rather stay here and investigate that's fine, but if you're intent on doing so you probably want to stay out of line of sight."
"What do you think?"

"How soon is this banquet? I think we could pick up something here before we leave. If there's a threat to the Gods then we should try and find it quickly before we leave so that know what to do to prevent any attack. Assuming that we have the time to do so that is? Simone can get better and we can go out and question the party brigade quickly. You can terrorise Lord Chad and I can use some more subtle methods." Kat replies.

As they talk there is a knock then an envelope is slid under the door. It is expensive paper and a graceful hand has written in fine calligraphy Lady Eivor of Amber. At first glance, it looks to be an invitation.

"I'm not sure we have that luxury," Eivor replies, frowning at the envelope but otherwise trying to ignore it. "Time may well be against us."
She goes to a nondescript corner of the room and attempts to contact Flora by trump.

Kat goes over and fetches the envolope from the door like a dog fetching a stick for her mistress and hands it out as a respectful distance from the Goddess.
"We only just got here half an hour ago. We've hardly wasted any time so far and its not like we have anything much of any worth to report back except that Coy is a little toe-rag with some mind twisting powers. Which I guess we could have surmised anyway."

#s://i~ibb~co/j5FLskF/Florimel~jpg Eivor connects with Flora. "Ah, Eivor! We were wondering where you had got to. Still in Deiga?"Eivor's aunt is in one of the more casual meeting rooms of the castle. Eivor can see a couple of the Lords of Amber discussing business over glasses of wine in the background.

"No, I've moved on," Eivor replies. "I believe you are hosting a banquet at which Lord Rein and his wife are due to attend. Given Lady Rein may still be under the influence of the renegade Coy you may wish to reconsider. Coy can manipulate individuals and the masses to do his bidding, and it would be remiss of me not to mention the possible threat to your safety."
"If it please you I should very much like to question Simone DelaAmbre, Lady Rein, about her supposed brother. If you could find her comfortable secure accommodation I think that would be best for all parties."

Surely the new Goddess Queen must not be ignorant of Lady Simone's heritage? Questioning her would have been the first thing she would have done. Kat thinks quietly to herself.

#s://i~ibb~co/j5FLskF/Florimel~jpg "Ah. Coy had that talent, eh? Do you suspect he is yet another member of the family to enter our lives mysteriously? They do like to show up when things are in flux. There are a couple of other new cousins for you; Brian, whom you've already met, although the tale he tells of his coming to Amber is quite suspect, an exaggeration if not outright lie, and Xu Liang, who we found prowling about the city getting into all sorts of trouble.
"Lady Rein has a brother [OOC: Damn, you are going to make me look this up. Where did I mention their names again?] Antione, as far as we know. You have found that Coy has manipulated his way into the DelAmbre family? He seems to have wormed his way into everything."She turns her attention to someone out of Eivor's sight and gives them a "Hello, darling!' greeting. Then back to Eivor. "I can't afford the scandal of locking Simone up! But I will command the guards to keep an extra eye on her during the gala; I've seen pictures of the woman and have no doubt they'd be watching her intently anyway.
"The function will be in three days. I was hoping for a nice small get-together, but you know how these things blossom into larger and larger spectacles. Sadly, my ruling duties don't allow me to give that personal touch to my preferred preparations. The greatest annoyance of rule is the necessity to delegate all your favourite tasks to the castle staff.
"Consider this your invitation to the event. Bring Katerina along too. Three days from now."
