#s://i~ibb~co/fx7cJts/503547b17947b0ed0abe5cfd4802863e~jpg The carriage stops at the gate to the mansion. The grounds are surrounded by a 15' high red stone wall. The gate is bars of iron locked by a thick-linked iron chain and padlock. Through the bars the grounds around the mansion unkempt with grasses overgrown, a few apple trees filled with ripe fruit and many apples on the ground rotting with hordes of flies and wasps about them. The mansion's windows are closed and curtains hide the view inside. From the door a doughy middle aged woman in a type of servants dress makes her slow plodding was to the gate. She carries a rolling pin in one hand. "Didn't they tell ya in town that the Lord is not permitting visitors on the estate? If you have business with him I suggest taking it up with the Minister of Administrative Affairs." she says loudly but also oddly like she is talking in her sleep.

Kat raises an eyebrow at that and looks over to the Goddess Eivor. It is clear that this poor servant woman has also had her mind changed by the fake third son of the family.
"Princess. Would you like me to help this poor woman?" She asks.

"Please do, before I knock some sense and civility into her," Eivor replies.

"You obviously don't know who you're dealing with here do you?"
Kat becokons to the woman to come to the gate as though she is going to whisper to her to tell her a secret.
If she does indeed come to the gate, Kat will start put her arm through the gate to touch her shoulder and will whisper in the woman's ear.
"This is Princess Eivor of the home of the Gods called Amber. The master will want to speak with her."
As she says this, she tries to slip the idea into the woman's mind that the Master meant other lesser people and will scold her if she does not bring this person of exceptional honour to see him. She is to show them in with courtesy.
If she does not and refuses to come to the gate or let them in, then Kat will shake her head sadly.
"The revenge of the Goddes for such a slight is terrible. I have seen it first hand and you are not wise to refuse her."

[OOC: Sorry, the woman is behind the locked gate yelling through to E & K. They won't be able to approach her without breaking the gate or climbing the wall, or something else you might think of.]

[OOC - edited above to include the gate, which alas I'd missed]

[OOC: Darn it, I did too!]
Lacking Kat's patience, Eivor sighs wearily and shrugs out her arms which quickly sprout feathers. As her form shifts and changes she bends her knees and launches herself into the sky, up and and over the wall. If the woman attempts to attack her, she will attempt to disarm her. Either way, she should be able to open the gate to allow Kat inside.

The woman does not approach the gate at Kat's beckoning but repeats the words she spoke before the turns and begins to trudge back towards the manor.
Once Eivor has landed inside the the walls, the woman turns around and returns to the gate holding the rolling pin like a baseball (or cricket) bat. She is disarmed by Eivor with ease and then she wanders off.
The chain securing the gate is quite stout and does not break despite Eivor's straining at it.

"I suggest she doesn't warn Coy of our arrival." Kat says to the Goddess.
She then shrugs and climbs over the gate. If that doesn't work then she will use her mirror cloak to create a ladder and use that to get over the gate. The gate is not the thing that will create her a problem, it is the fact that the woman might warn the others and they get a reception committe whilst Coy gets away that might.

Eivor does not give the woman the chance to wander off, subduing her and trying her to the nearest tree or post. Kat is free to examine her mind if she chooses. Otherwise, they will continue on to the manor.
[OOC: Intrigued the gate is chained on the inside as well - does that look like a recent security measure?]

Once over the gate, Kat goes over to the poor woman and reads her form instead of her mind. There is not time to absorb her mind, but her appearance may be good enough for now to create the ruse.

The chain is wrapped around and through the bars of the gate. Both it and the padlock are made of some type of metal not easily bend or broken by those of Amber strength; something from somewhere else, a place not akin to the usual shadow material Eivor is used to dealing with. When the gate is opened it is by the tearing of the steel pins with anchor the metal frame to the stone wall.
Inside the walls, before Kat can investigate the servant woman's mind, the sound of the wasps from under the trees grows louder and they rise in a swarm, in far greater numbers than the women would have thought possible, and fly towards them. The bound woman laughs and titters under her breath.

Wasps have poor vision at the best of times and so Kat makes her mirror cloak fully visible and allows each of the individual mirrors to reflect the light off in a different directions, making her appearance as confusing as possible to the insects. As she does that, she remembers that the perishing creatures hate peppermint oil. Using her shifting she tries to make alterations to her sweat glands to make the sweat smell of peppermint and thus help ward off the wasps.

"If you can make a shield please do so," Eivor suggests. "I doubt the wasps are anything natural, if the gate chain is anything to go by."
Eivor brings the image of the Pattern to mind both as a form of defense and to see if it changes the behaviour of the insects.
