Renault is anxious to return to Kasaba and resume the fight against Lady Vada.
Hammett's trump connection to his rooms in Amber does not work. There is an inertness about the card suggesting that his rooms no longer exist or have been altered enough to break the association between reality and the painted depiction.

Hammett frowns, and tried to picture how close his room was to the explosion. Well, he had hoped to change into his official clothes before making his presence known, but he would have to make do.
He slowly molded his current clothing to take on his traditional colors and to alter them to a more court style cut and finish. He looked in the mirror when he was done. Not as good as the real thing, but it was close enough. He then dug out on of his old eye patches from his desk drawer and put it on, covering up his artificial replacement.
Then he drew out his trump for the castle courtyard and attempted to trump there. Would be a bit flashier then he would have liked, but it would have to do.

#s://i~ibb~co/Rc3rW6y/depositphotos-74499351-stock-illustration-rampant-unicorn-a-illustration-of~jpg The guards in the courtyard stand to attention as Hammett enters. His first impression of the place is that Random's banners and colours have been replaced with Flora's. This brief glance is all he gets to see before the guards surround him with pikes lowered. "Hammett, you are to be held in custody until your guilt in the murder of King Random and Queen Vialle can be determined." the captain of the guard says.

Hammett gives a slight smile, "I'm sure you mean until my guilt or innocence can be determined, Captain, and yes, that is fine. I formally request an audience with Regent Florimel."

"Consider yourself fortunate to not have been executed on sight. You have no right to formally request anything; your existence rests completely upon the benevolence of Princess Flora."
He searches Hammett's pockets and removes his trump deck. Hammett is then marched to and locked in a small windowless cell in one of the castle's towers. Not luxurious by any means but a better home than the dungeon cells.

Hammett cleans up his cell [[OCC: is it more like an empty room, then an actual cell?]] as best he can and muddles about for awhile, taking inventory of everything in it. If there is a fireplace, he starts a fire to keep warm. Other then that, he just relaxes and waits until someone comes for him or food is delivered.

The place appears to be a small storage room but with a reinforced door. There is a small table and chair, a cot with a meager, thin mattress, and unlike the hole in the floor dungeon cells, there is a gilded chamber pot suited to Hammett's rank i.e. dented tarnished tin. The door has a slot at ground level for passing food and dishes through.

Hammett relaxes on the cot and questions his current plan. He knew going in that this might happen, he just wondered how long Flora would keep him waiting. He could leave any time he wanted, but that wasn't the plan. He needed access to the Great Library, and the chance to talk with some of King Random's former advisors and aids. Before the explosion Random had a file of information on Lady Vada on his desk, hell, he was showing it to Hammett when Lionel's experiment went kablooie, and Hammett needed to find out, or recreate, what other information Random might have gathered about her, and Kasaba. Why was the shadow so important? He had a feeling that maybe the information those spies were carrying might be more important then anyone realized previously. After all this, was he going to have to go back and get that damn Conductor again? And that woman there that wanted to buy Pinky, she did seem to know something as well. Damn, to bad he was in such a rush back then! Oh, well, hindsight is 20/20 and all that.
But that got him thinking of the explosion again. It wasn't that he wasn't grateful to Llwella and the Queen for saving him, obviously it was his preferred outcome, but something never sat right with him about that. If Llwella, and the Queen, were aware that something was about to happen, and was somehow monitoring the situation, why did they pull him out, and not Queen Vialle? She was special to the Queen of Rebma, wasn't she? At least that was what Hammett had always heard. Was there a chance they saved her as well and were keeping her safe and hidden until all this blew over? She was the furthest away from the blast, if anyone was able to escape or survive it would have been her. Plus, she was surrounded by her Trump objects at the time.
He tosses and turns on his cot, paces the room for a bit, then goes back to the cot. Again and again. Impatiently waiting. He needed to get to the Library.

Days pass - at least Hammett assumes it was days if they were feeding him the bread and water twice daily. Twenty plates of stale bread and dirty water: that would be ten days now. Sadly the chamber pot is not being emptied out and is overflowing.

[[OCC: Hammett wouldn't have waited that long. He does have a business to run after all. By the morning of day three if nothing had been done. He would bang loudly on the door when his food was being delivered and ask for council or some form of hearing. If by the second meal that day they still do not respond, then his camber pot is going to be emptied out the slot under the door. If that doesn't get a response, by day four he will trump out of there.]]

OCC: Trump sketch. would just scratch it on the wall, or draw on bed sheet or wall with dirt mixed with the water they give him or something. Same as Dwarkin did in Corwin's cell in the first book series.

Hammett works on his trump sketch using improvised items in the room. He is no Dworkin so the job will take much longer than the few hours needed back then.
He is getting close to finishing the sketch when he suddenly feels the pressure of an attempted trump contact in his mind.

Well, Hammett thinks, whoever it is, its better then talking to no one.
He answers the call.
