The Gods of Eshanta
The severn Gods and Goddesses were said to have created the world, including the Mirror Maze and are said to have stayed in the world for a while teaching the people before they departed. They were never seen again and the stories of them passed into myth and a religeon formed around them with the Great Book of Eshanta telling stories of them. It is clear though that the Book was written from many sources, though most did not agree with each other and there are many contradictions in the Book. There were however said to be mighty beings with powers beyond the capabilities of the Eshantans. The statues of them that line Gods Way are now broken and crusted with most of the features worn from the Aegis of time. However every Eshantan knows the names of each of them and what each represents.
The Warlord - he is worshipped by the troops in their battle against the demons. It is The Warlord who they believe will give the Eshantans strength to resist and win the war.
The Enchantress - The Enchantress is the source of magic on Eshanta. She controls the magical energies and their whims. No one has understood how to use the energies here yet, though there have always been those that have tried and failed.
The Male Twin - Represents the male aggressive and proactive side of humananity. He is worshipped by man wanting to be more virile and further themselves in society.
The Female Twin - Represents the female nurturing side of humans. She is often prayed to by woment wanting children or famers who want their crops to grow
The Beared God - The only thing recognisable on this large male statue is his beard, and in literature he is called the Bearded God or sometimes the Burly God. He is worshipped as the Builder God who helped the people build their great cities and stone masons and other artisans.
The Hidden One - He is a mystery who hides in the shadows and finds out all the secrets of your heart. Those with a guilty conscious often pray to forgive them of their sins and not to visit them to take his vengeance. Offerings are often made to the Hidden One to keep him from claiming the guilty.
The Sky Goddess - She can sprout wings and fly over the lands watching over everyone and bringing news from afar. It is said that she errected the Monuments, though the reason she did so is a msytery.
Kat always had sympathies with the Hidden One. When she was young and being picked on by the nobility she would often hide and pray to the Hidden One. She would pray to be out of their sight and be able to get revenge on those that had hurt her. Her Mirror Image pulled on those thoughts and emotions from her youth.
It is not know which of the Gods taught the people about the mirrors and the stories contradict each other giving different sources of the origin of Mirrormancy on the world.
