So would Corwin come back to take his crown? Or would his son Merlin have the right and unite Amber to the Courts of Chaos? What of Eric's son? And Martin is also heir to this throne too; would you see him as king in both Amber and Rebma?"

"My Queen, not to be flippant, and to borrow a saying from the average citizens and soldier, but this is all "well above my pay-grade". I do not know enough about the rules, if there are indeed any, nor the all the contenders involved, to hazard more of a guess then I have already done. My final thoughts on the matter would be the observation that everyone appears to have full faith and trust in Prince Benedict to run Amber, and none, from Amber to the Courts of Chaos, would dare challenge him. So maybe it is finally time for him to leave all those "events in shadow" that preoccupy him so for the rest of us to handle, and for him to remain in command in Amber."

He also has a troubling history of dalliance with ladies from the Courts of Chaos. Would you care to see that Dara demon as heir to the throne? Would Benedict last long with that viper in the court?"

"All excellent points, your majesty."
Hammett tries to shift the conversation away from his opinions on the matter, since they obviously are uninformed at best, and stupid at worst.
"What would you see as the ideal outcome for Rebma?"
((OCC: "They" referring to my opinions on the matter, not the queen and Llewella))

For too long we have been victims of misrule in Amber! You think that the Black Road had no effect on us here? Twice your castle has been destroyed and reflected down to us. Random, it all comes back to Random and his visit here all those years ago. He has been a curse on all of us!"

Hammett remains silent and lets her continue to vent, he really has nothing more to add to this part of the conversation.

"You gave your word to repay our hospitality and so I give you a ...quest, shall we say. An opportunity to prove not all of Amber lack refinement and nobility. Find my grandson Martin. Tell him what has befallen his father, remind him of his duty to Rebma, and bring him back to me. Alive."From the heavy gold chain around her neck she holds up the large emerald shadow-counterpart to the Jewel of Judgement. "Stare into the depths of the Jewel while swearing to complete this mission."

Hammett nods to the Queen, "It would be my honor, your majesty."
He then looks at the Jewel, and then tries to stare into its depths, like she requested (Does this require using Psych or is it more of just a tradition/formality?). Assuming nothing happens or stops him once he is staring into its depths, he will swear an oath to try and find Martin and tell him what has happened and to do his best to convince Martin to return to Rebma, aiding him in that endeavor however he can.
And assuming that is acceptable, he will then venture to continue, "May I take it from this request, my queen, that attempts to contact Prince Martin, by trump or other means, over the last few days have failed and his current whereabouts and safety unknown?"
((OCC: how many days have I been unconscious and/or sleeping and healing since the explosion?))

Which makes the fact he agreed to sit for you to be so exceptional and delightfully serendipitous that you are here with us. If you have his card and could reach him now it would save us all a great amount of trouble."Llewella interrupts: "He is still quite injured, Queen. I advise against his using the trumps at this time."[OOC: There is no special feeling when starting into the jewel other than the warm feeling of acting honourably. You haven't been told how long you have been in Rebma.]

Hammett nods, "And I foolishly ignored Princess Llewella's caution. But it is unfortunately true. I have some close friends who were also in great danger when I last saw them. Just before this attendance I attempted to contact them, but when I tried to focus on the image the dizziness was too much and I was unable to make contact."
"I have been healing well, but time is against us. If others have come to the same conclusions on the order of succession as your Majesty, then they might also be looking for Martin already and to be honest I am unsure of how long it has been since the explosion. My memory of the last...? Days? A week or more? Are hazy at best."

"It has been three days," she says, "While Benedict has given no official word about bringing family members back to Amber I do not doubt that you are correct in that others will be hunting for Random's child."

Nods, "Then with your highness permission, I should not delay any longer. While I might not be able to use the trumps, I am well enough to travel. I don't see any point in returning to Amber, it might only delay my mission having to answer what will cetainly be numerous questions. Instead, may I ask for help getting to Ceridin? I have resources there, and access to ships and information. It will be the perfect place for me to begin my search."
((OCC: How do they get around in Rebma? So they have underwater ships that travel to other golden circle shadows? or just regular ship up on the surface that they swim up to? or do they not deal with the outside world at all?))

[OOC: Full blooded Rebmans have the ability to leave the city and travel undersea. Rebma has its own undersea shadows which it can contact and trade with. They do have an above sea navy that patrols the seas near Amber, often above their allied shadows.]

Hammett bows his head, "Your majesty." and then to Llweela, "Princess. Thank you both once again for saving my life and your hospitality. I will not fail you." He then rises from his knee and backs out of the chamber.
Outside the throne room he relaxes and waits for his guide to take him to the stairway.
