Hammett leans against the wall, letting Brennon do the talking for now. He keeps his one good eye on the prisoner, maintaining a cold, indifferent expression. Like a pathologist studying a body before the autopsy. Maybe his new scars and eye-patch will help sell the cold menace in his appearance and attitude.

"My dear captain, I am a man of means, a man of importance. My associates will not allow me to be so rudely taken from my home. Even now they will be searching through the multiworlds to find my trail. So why risk it? Your dossier tells that you are not from Kasaba so why risk your neck and the lives of your crew over something that doesn't concern you?
"Now you much-abused friend here might have a different opinion but my little papers also told me that he is not native either.
"How is Yvette, Hammett? Still dedicated to the futile cause?"

Hammett doesn't respond or make any exhibit that he even heard the man's words. After a moment he pulls out a pencil and sketch pad and begins making a sketch. He is starting a trump of the Conductor, but the Conductor can't see what Hammett is drawing although he might guess if he knows about trumps.

Brennon nods as though the conductor's words make perfect sense. "Yes, I figured as much. I've been trying to ransom you back to them, but I haven't been successful. After all, to me you are only a pawn in a game I am not concerned with. If I can be rid of you, for some small monetary gain, then it is by far the easiest and simplest way for them to retrieve you. While also preserving my potential usefulness to them in the future, of course. I needn't mention that Amber is currently too occupied to have been interested in you, though of course I tried."
"Unless you wish to reveal who your associates are, and what group they work for, I fear we will simply run out of time to contact them."
He waits to see what the conductor makes of this news. He was perfectly willing to go on about his importance when Brennon first met him, as well. Maybe the opportunity to pontificate amd brag, sneeringly of course, at his captors will get the man's tongue to loosen again. Maybe he will be smart enough to pick up that, if he isn't to be tortured or killed, then there is a different fate awaiting him. One he could avoid by revealing more information.

"We know of you, Captain Brennon, and many of those you associate with. My people are watching with interest to see who it is you think you can sell me to. Do you see? You carry the mark of Vada now and everywhere you go and everything you touch and everyone you meet falls under her dread sight."
He sits upright and speaks loudly, nearly shouting.
"The Jewel is lost never to return. The time of Amber is at an end. The prophecies are being fulfilled. The coming storm will rid Shadow of the Unicorn's heresy!"

Brennon's glance flicks to the sailor at the doorway who was ordered to take everything down, to make sure he was still at the task.
"I carry the mark of Sorrows, too, man," he says, leaning in to speak in quiet earnest. "What does your Vada matter to a man whom the Gods have denied death?"

The man quickly regains his composure.
"I apologize in advance for the cliche but, as they say, there are fates worse than death, mon capitaine, and Lady Vada has mastered inflicting them all."

"She must be powerful indeed, to have demons at her beck and call. Is she a God, or one of the Lords of Chaos?"

"A good question. I don't know where she is from but it was far from Kasaba. She is said to ride the shadows freely."

[ooc: I don't have anything to add at the moment. He seems talkative, and getting any information seems good, but I don't know where to go from here. Hammett might want to step in.]

Hammett finishes his sketch and steps forward towards the conductor and grabs another chair and sits next to him.
"What I find interesting is that you are still talking like you are part of this war, when in fact the war was over for you as soon as you were captured by Captain Brennon here."
He turns his sketch around so the Conductor can see it. It is a very well done, although obviously quickly made, sketch of the man.
"You are a... being of the worlds. Do you know what a Trump is? You probably do, at least what they are at the basic level. They allow people to talk to each other across the multiverse, as you called it, by creating a mind-to-mind connection. They also allow people to travel from one location to another. That is what most people know, and really for most people, even those that use them, that is all they think they are. But that is not true..."
Hammett leans back in his chair, "They actually capture some of the person's psychic impression into the portrait. A trump is a permanent connection to that individual or location. And advanced masters of the Trump can use them for many other things. For example, they can create a connection to the individual in the trump that that person doesn't even know is happening. They can then spy on that person, not only seeing and hearing what they do, but even reading their thoughts and emotions. They can track people across the multiverse, always knowing where they are and what they are doing and thinking."
He looks the Conductor in the eyes, "Are you beginning to see where I am going with this? I don't claim to be a full on master, by any means, but I can now make an unlimited amount of trumps of you for those that are. Say Fiona or Bleys of Amber. True masters of trump and psychic influence. With a trump of you, you would basically be an agent of theirs. Anywhere you went, anything you did, you would never know if they are watching and listening and reporting back to Prince Benedict. You would be the perfect, unwilling, spy for them and the forces of Amber and there is nothing you could do about it. Even if you tried protection spells and barriers you could never be certain that people of that much power and centuries of experience haven't broken through them."
He leans back again, "So, maybe I can convince Captain Brennon here to let you go free. It would be a get benefit to me, Kasaba and Amber if you were to return to your army and your master. We would then know every plan and action you would be involved in. And if you told anyone you would for sure be killed or exiled, as there is no way this Lady Vada would risk having you around. You know I'm right. You would be a much to big a risk. There is no way anyone could ever be sure you weren't being monitored, no matter what they did. Think about it."
He leans forward to the Conductor again, "And yet without her protection I don't see much of a future for you, unless you make some new allies..."

"You are a true son of Amber, so smart, so arrogant. How do you know that my Lady doesn't also have the same skill? That she is watching you right now? Thank you for tipping your hand without her needing to come to this dismal place and confront you."
[OOC: Time is passing in the game so if you are running low on ideas we can move to the hand-over.]

Hammett chuckles, "And what if she is? We are not fighting in the war against her, right now. We have no information to reveal about what Amber is planning or doing. And since you do not even know what shadow you are in, she wouldn't either. And, lets be honest here, if your brainwashed mind can be, if you were at all important to her she would have tried and rescued you by now, not let you spend weeks in captivity moving further away into shadow. And it is hardly "tipping my hand" when I came right out and told you. And it does not change the facts. You are an outcast now. You can't return to your forces without being seen as a permanent threat to their plans. So what are you going to do now?"

The conductor raises an eyebrow in mock surprise.
"If you are not fighting in a war with her then what possible use am I to you as an ally? Would you like to sell my knowledge to some other group? Why shouldn't I keep it and then sell it myself? No, your Captain here has his plan for me and I am powerless and planless while awaiting his decision on my doom.
I do find it interesting that you mentioned reporting to Prince Benedict rather than King Random. Some sort of trouble in Amber, I assume? My Lady will enjoy hearing about that. My sincere thanks. Could it be that we are allies? You give me information on the sate of Amber and her royal family and in return Lady Vada will grant you your life when all the rest of your family are dead?"

"And I find it interesting that with all your Lady's much vaunted power and all of your dossiers and files that you don't know that Prince Benedict is in charge of Amber's armies and handles all of its warfare and defense. That is such common knowledge across shadow that it makes me think that perhaps your forces are not so powerful or wide-reaching in their scope. Just another shadow army under control of a shadow sorcerer with delusions of grandeur. And like the dozens of others that have tried over the centuries, they will fail."
Hammett stands and looks at Brennon, "He's no value to me, but thank you for letting me speak with him. You can feed him to the sharks now, or whatever you have planned."
(OCC: I'm good to move forward to the hand-off if you guys are))
