It is in the wee, small hours of the morning when Natalia, Damien, and Jaxiam are awakened by visions of the Pattern flaring in flame. Now, it is not uncommon to receive visions and omens, to see ghostly apparitions when the cloud city of Tir'Nath hangs low in the sky over Chateau d'Ambre and its streamers of mist crawl along the Chateau roof then work their way through windows and into the great halls and rooms of the palace. But this dream is different - the flames from the Pattern burn into the mind of the dreamer causing sudden wakefulness and a sense of danger.
The castle seems quieter than usual even at this late hour.

Natalia sits straight up. Almost instinctively she starts to conjure a weapon, only to stop once she remembers where she is. Silently Natalia climbs out of bed. She steps into her slippers as she pulls a robe on. Natalia walks swiftly to the door and into the hallway. She looks around to see if anyone is present. “Hello?” She whispers.

OOC---I am a bit lost. Chateau d'Ambre is that Corwin's version of Amber? Jaxiam has never been to Dworkin's Amber.---

Sensing danger Jax gets ot of bed and readies his rapier and main gauche, checking that all his spells are in order as he does. Ready to command "VOILE!" at the first sign of trouble....

The corridors and halls of the castle are empty. Even the guards who make their rounds or are stationed at certain doorways are missing. Through the windows, a silver light provides the only illumination. Natalia and Jaxiam find each other in the hallways and eventually they find the castle servants hiding in their quarters. They fearfully speak about the ghost city in the sky and how close it sits above the castle.

After greeting Nat and discovering she was just as clueless about what was occuring as he was, they together began searching the castle. This leads to finding the servants cowering. Apparently the servants dont seem to have anything to relate other than superstition. After a quick return to their rooms to finish dressing and grabing their gear, they go in search of the missing guards and anyone else who might provide any imformation about what is happening. Having worked well together on their adventures in the past they take it slow and methodically clearing areas as they move through the castle. Jax will be using his Logrus sight as they go. Making sure to take the time to look out any windows they pass, making sure to keep a lookout for anything strange about Tir'Nath.

The sign of the Logrus burns Jaxiam's eyes when the light from the ghost city strikes it. While in the castle this is just an annoyance but outside it might cause some serious damage!
The guards are eventually located scattered about random rooms. They slept peacefully until discovered then speak as if still in a dream about being summoned to where they fell to sleep. They can't identify who it was that commanded them or how they were knocked out. Once the discussion is done they slowly shuffle back to their regular detail but do not appear to be in any condition to defend the castle or themselves if more trouble was to arise.
Natalia feels a faint compulsion, more of a subliminal suggestion, to go to the Amber Tower in the north wing of the castle. It is the usual starting spot when climbing into Tir'Nath.

“Jax. I don’t know why but I feel like we’ve got to the tower in the north wing. We need to check Tir’Nath.” Nat says as she turns to head that way. “I’ve got my deck if we have to make a hasty retreat. Like the time in that shadow with the dragon who wanted to keep you as decoration.” She adds with a sassy smirk. “What was her name again?? Oh I remember now. Runequester. Her breath was icy shards. Her ability to detect magic was a pain in the butt. So was that glacier she lived on.” Nat shivers. “I get cold just thinking about that place.” She stops at the base of the tower and looks up at the stairs leading to Tir’Nath.

"Tir'Nath??? I am getting a bad feeling about this... I woke up from a dream, the ghost city in the sky was somehow involved. It was almost a warning of danger... I saw the Pattern in flames. There is something going on with Tir'Nath. Just looking at its light thru my Logrus Sight is painful. Looking at the city itself is even worse. All the portends are leading us toward Tir'Nath... Jax checks his gear (A Mauser C96 and 4x 20 round magazines, a Chaos Demon-formed rapier and main-gauche, Chaos Demon-formed armored vest and gloves, survival backpack, ration bars, and first aid kit.) As they head out Jax falls in beside Nat and and returns her quip: "She just loved my iridescent wings. She might have had a different opinion if I had switched to my Chaos Form. I would have been a little hot for her to handle..." Approaching the tower Jax asks Nat: "Do you still have that trump you made of Commander Joffre. I think we should let someone know what we are about to do, and I cannot think of anyone better than the Commander of the Royal Guard."

The Amber Tower reaches far into the sky offering a pleasant view of Paris and the country beyond; however, under the full moon where the stone of the tower ends the ghostly stairway begins turning for hundreds of meters before reaching Tir'Nath. Usually turning for hundreds of meters but tonight the stairway extends only a few yards until reaching the sky city. There never seems to be a reason or pattern to where the stairway ends; sometimes in the ghostly reflection of the castle, other times delivering the visitor to a part of the ghost city. The only thing known for sure (at least it hasn't been recorded otherwise) is that the stair does lead to somewhere in Paris, but where it leads tonight Nat and Jax won't be able to tell until they climb up....
