OOC: It's not the age that counts, but the strength of belief and fullness of the Unicorn's will. It doesn't matter; there won't be much of her left after the inquisition. <OOC> Well, that doesn't give me a body count. </OOC> Cody nods to Prince Calvera and Lord Han as they spar over Jessup. Cody's stomach tightens at the thought of his Creche-mates being interrogated in Rebma. There isn't anything they could tell them that Cody hasn't already revealed. "I'm agreeable and meek am I?" Cody puzzles. "Timid and bashful too." He laughs. "I am exactly as I am, always."
"Rebma welcomed in my whole entourage. I expected to receive the same reception here. When Captain Jessup was turned away I did not abandon her at the gate. It was a gambit that the guards would call us back. And otherwise we came back later only to be turned away."
"But you already know all of this."
"I do not think it meek to stand by my convictions of aiding and sheltering my dearest friends."
"Being agreeable to a token punishment in order to prevent war and strife seems the honourable thing to do."
"It just pangs me that it will delay my participation in solving the issue of the imbalances of power behind the Shadow Storms."
"There's no game. It is my nature."
"Princess Fiona told me that no one would believe me if I said that I was not interested in seizing the throne for myself but that is the case. Since my M-unit is now at least twice dead there is no one else I would currently support. I have no objections to your Regency. In fact, I prefer Matriarchy. So if you were up voted by your peers it would suite me fine."
"I am an Engineer and maybe some day an Architect. I'm more interested in the metaphysical workings of the Multiverse. I would sooner apply for a job like Lord Suhuy's, or Dworkin's."
"Be a builder and creator. Not some seat warmer, administrator, figurehead."

(OOC - Xu was inner monologuing. He didn't say anything! I'm a bit busy at the moment. I'll post in the morning.)

<OOC> No need to worry. Xu did not speak out loud, but everyone in the room was thinking the same thing... ;-) </OOC>

(OOC -Sorry more inner monologue. Not much for him to add presently.) Xu sits quietly and listens to the conversation. So another pawn on the board. Being advanced to cause disruptions to the status quo. Who benefits? And who thinks they can pull his strings? Who might have information on his mother that they think they can use to control him? Hmm… this will require some thought and a few inquiries, unless Flora chooses to fill me in on things later.

#s://i~ibb~co/j5FLskF/Florimel~jpg "I see. You find our city to be objectionable. Full of danger and strife, which is why you wouldn't dare leave your friend alone amidst the rogues and killers. Yet you did so today. If anything, the city is more dangerous for her now since a faction of the Church will want both of you dead.
"Your interest in a woman monarch is obvious. You supported me today and Moire yesterday, and if Deirdre were here, you would have supported her. Would you say the same to Fiona if she were Regent? Llewella? Mirelle?
"Oh, and we are not accepting employment applications for a crazy old man and the Pattern at the moment. Dworkin is said to be alive and well."

"Call it naiveté, but I expected to walk out of here today or to receive Jessup in. In the meantime, I believe that we have found a safe nest for her to lay low for the day."
Cody fidgets with his brooches as he considers the dangerous realm he has brought his Creche-mates into.
"To be honest, I am also concerned for my own safety. Ensconced in a dungeon cell leaves me a sitting duck for the faction against me. If Fiona is to be believed."
"I'd just as likely be felled by her own blade if my performance has disappointed her."
"So I take a leap of faith by submitting to you."
Cody sits up straight as he considers succession.
"To the question of Queendom: I don't know any of you beyond reputation. Based on reputation, Fiona is not entirely redeemed of her role in Patternfall."
"Moire and Llewella are peas in a pod; creatures of Rebma. They have some sort of symbiosis or Sapphic relationship. I would not see them separated. Not see them ruling two realms from one throne. Let them maintain their own status quo. Not to mention that they harbour some grudge against my M."
"Mirelle? She's an outlier. But, so was her brother."
"Interesting that you didn't name Coral. She appears the most likely choice if you are submitting to the choice of our ancestors. Why else has she possession of the Jewel?"
Shifting to the subject of Cody's own career path, he flinches at the disrespectful descriptor 'Crazy Old Man'. "My career trajectory is in the far future. I'm not yet equipped to take on such labour."
"However, I do need to explain my ambition. I don't ever wish to replace Great Grandfather or the Lord Suhuy. I wish to become their peer."
"The Serpent and Lilith created the Logrus and then Lilith left and the stewardship of the Logrus found its way into Lord Suhuy's hands."
"Dworkin and, well, the Unicorn" Cody bites his tongue so as to not speak his suspicion that Lilith is the Unicorn. "They created the Pattern."
"So, it appears to be a two person job to draft such an artifact of Power."
"I dream that whatever I coauthor will be in sinc with the prevailing Powers."

This is a fascinating discussion. He knew that the lines of succession were not clear but listening to how one of the principle’s involved talked about it was illuminating. This constant semi-open battling for the throne was so destructive to the health of the realm. He wished he could understand why King Oberon created such a system.
Cody’s comments about the Logrus and Pattern were also interesting ideas. While he was not sure he could trust the veracity of what he said, but Cody seemed to believe they were true. Were these things common knowledge in the Courts or was he deeper into their religious organization than he was letting on? Or did Princess Dierdre tell him of these things?

#s://i~ibb~co/j5FLskF/Florimel~jpg "We have no reason to believe you are a member of the Barimen family, so keep your comments respectful," Calvera growls. "If you had just come to the castle quietly and not fooled around in Rebma, then all your crew would be billeted here and safe. Your odd behaviour has not benefited them or yourself. The cells are the best place for you until some other punishment is decided. Calvera, Xu, take him away." Flora commands.

Cody stands and stretches. He taps the bongo drums on Flora's desk and says, "Please be sure that Princess Fiona receives my gift."
Ignoring Calvera's grumble, Cody then gives a sweeping bow, "Your Regent Highness..."
Turning a glance at Prince Calvera and then a look at Lord Han, "Lead on gentlemen."

Xu stands and bows with his eyes down. “By your command.” He then looks to Cody with an expression that conveys his hope that he will respectfully accept the Regent’s commands and withdraw in a gentlemanly manner so they could discuss how to contact Captain Jessup.
When he sees Cody remind the Regent about the bongo drums he mentally shakes his head. Xu picks them up and says, "I will make sure that they are taken to Princess Fiona's rooms with an appropriate message about whom they are from."
He then takes the lead towards the door and then turns and says, "Shall we?" The Orange Fu Lion in the corner shakes itself and quietly pads over to stand next to Xu.

<OOC> Xu doesn't need to add a note unless he wishes to editorialize. Censoring Cody's message and replacing it with something Xu considers more appropriate.
Also, there are plenty of servants that can run the errand unless Xu is hoping to talk to Fiona himself.
Although Cody doesn't trust Fiona, she at least has treated Cody in the most familial manner. </OOC>
Cody smiles when he sees the Foo Lion come to life and wonders if it has telepathy like Tch-Tch. Cody projects a greeting, ~Hello to you sir.~ And gives a nod.
Moving into the corridor Cody inquires again of the two men, "My M- Mother's chambers: Did they survive the blasting? They would contain some small proof of me."

#s://i~ibb~co/28Y9wNs/Calvera~jpg "That would be convenient for you, wouldn't it?" Calvera says. "Next time you meet the Regent, play the poor-orphan-caught-by-evil-Lords-of-Chaos-and-forced-into-their-evil-schemes card. It might buy you some sympathy, right, Xu?"They pass through the doors at the top of the great stairway, and guards salute two of them as they pass. Now, they are walking the long way, down and down, around and around the spiral staircase, with only Calvera's small lantern to light their way. More lights glimmer far below. The walls run with seeping water. In some places, fantastical crystals form where the water drips off stone outcroppings. "The royal geologists would be having a field day down here if they hadn't all been killed by Hammett and Leonil."

(OOC – Ops! I missed that you had a message on it already! I’ll edit. Xu knows the Regent’s time is precious and is conscientiously taking a task off her docket instead of imposing on her to do something.)
Cody hears nothing in return to his attempt at mental communication with Kai.
“While there are some that choose that path in our family, it does not seem to have a good record of success. Presenting an alternate and more flattering view of the truth seems a more wise method of gaining acceptance and trust.”
“Does anyone know exactly what happened? While Leonil is an unknown to me, Hammet did not seem the type to use indiscriminate violence. He seemed more of a subtle sort or opponent.”
