There is a log floating in the water Dio can use.
Out in the river she sees many boats, some paddle, others sidewheeled, some motored. Smoke drifts across the waters, and she sees a portion of the city on fire. It must be the Cairo she visited when she escaped the convent.

Dio swims towards the exit of the Labyrinth she had seen. Seeing she is back in Caïro where it all had started for her, gives her some mixed feelings.
Though she has no time to divulge in those feelings.
Dio swims steadily on holding on to the log.
When she reaches the other side she climbs up and gives her legs some time to rest.
Looking around she tries to spot if there is movement, from people or animals. If there is some clothing laying about she can finaly cover up, and she tries to see in the distance if there is fighting going on, or if this is just a city on fire.

#s://i~ibb~co/gSycDv9/nile~png The river is wide and filled writhes with strange currents. Crocodiles eye her as she paddles across but are already well-fed by other people who had fallen in the waters, so let her pass unbitten. The far shore is tall reeds, mud, and biting insects. There are other people, most from other fleeing boats, who have pushed through the reeds to the dry land. No clothing is immediately available to her. The city doesn't look to be in a battle. A section is burning fiercely.

Wasing through the mud and the reeds Dio pulls herself.up the shore.
That there is no clothing is annoying but not qn immediate disaster. She has been naked often enough and little shame.
Seeing more fleeing people she walks, carefully and probably a bit wobbly, towards them. Having been already exhausted and then needing to swim is of course tiring.
She holds up her hands showing she has literally nothing to hide.
Going closer hopefully picking up some conversations.

Pushing through the reeds, she comes to a mud bar, dry, grassy land above her. Climbing up she sees many people about the water bank.
"A woman in distress," someone calls.
"She fell from a boat! Bring a blanket."
Within moments, Dio has been wrapped in a thick warm blanket, a mug of warm milk in her hands, and two ladies washing the mud off her legs. An old man sits beside her.
"Did you fall overboard?" he asks gently.

Dio let it all happen. She lets her be lifted wrapped and washed.
She looks among the others.
To draw out some time she takes a careful sip of the warm milk.
Dio doesn't know these people doesn't know there intentions.
After she swallows.
Dio answers in a careful and soft voice.
"I am sorry." Her words come out eith a light hesitation "I don't remember. I woke up somewhere there in the water."
Dio points to where she actually comes from. Admitting she was part of a ritual might not be the best conversation starter

The man nods in understanding.
"Much pushing and panicking when the fire started. It's easy to get lost in that maze of streets. Did you see the demon? It was said a demon attacked the city. A foolish story, I'd say, if it wasn't for the incident last year.
"Bring more of the milk," he says to the others, "And dates."

Dio shakes her head. "I have not seen a demon. Or anything else out of the ordinary. At least, aa far as i remember."
Dii looks back to the burning city
"Why did it attack? Does anyone know."

"They say it just appeared. Others say it fell from the sky. All praise to Hathor for defending us from the demon-beast!"

Dio frowns. She sips her milk and appears deeply pensive for a bit.
She then looks up.
"I can't recall." She pauses "A demon you say, what did it look lkke? Could it not have been a wild beast?"
Bowing her head as the man mentions praising someone.
"Yes praise Hathor, did she defend the city?"

"I didn't see it myself. Stories have spread quickly and tell conflicting versions of the demon. Some say it was a woman of fire, others a jagged blob of goo; the Northerner's Fensis come to curse its foes, or snake of smoke. One tale even called it a mathematical abstraction, whatever that means. I think she was concussed and suffering from smoke inhalation.
"Hathor, goddess of the Nile and a protector of this city."

Dio frowns at the description of the attacker. A pang of worry comes to her mind. Was she in a way responsible?
With hesitation she replies.
"That sounds very strange indeed. Perhaps the trauma of events has indeed skewered some memories and visions. "
Dio looks around she then points to the Labyrinth she had come from
"Are you all heading there for safety? Or is there another location people will gather?"

"I am planning to wait and see what happens. If it is safe to return to Cairo i will, if not then head upstream to Luxor or some other, safer city.
"What are your plans?"

Dio looks at the burning city. Frowning. After a moment she gives an answer.
"I am not sure yet, perhaps if i return to Cairo i might learn more."
She looks at the man.
"Or i should just move forward find a way to safety."
Looking back to the exit of the Labyrinth she adds.
"Staying in one place to long doesn't seem safe though."

"What could you learn in the city that you didn't know before? We should be safe on this side of the river. The police and firefighters should have order restored by tomorrow."
