Sometimes, Eivor reflects grimly, you've just got to put in the hard yards.
She takes a breath to pull the protruding object from her leg and shift her wounds, defending as she does so and taking stock of the situation. She keeps moving to avoid being shot at, but is keen to ensure Brand does his part in the fight. Had she drawn these creatures here, or would they have arrived anyway? It was all very odd.

Brand is either hiding or gone. Maybe he trumped out? The only other exit was the steeply sloping tunnel where they were dumping the gutted corpses.
Going full defensive, Eivor manages to stop her bleeding but is forced back a few steps by the grey guys, and now her back is closer to the wall. These are Eivor's kind of fighters - they also don't talk while in battle.
One of the grey guys at the entranced falls from a spear through his chest.
As is the way of things, she senses someone trying to contact her through a card.

If the grey guys are concentrating on her, it might present an opportunity for allies to assist, so she keeps on the defensive while trying to fend off the trump contact.
Now is really not a good time.

The trump contact is a distraction, but her full defensive fighting stops her retreat and holds the attackers away. After a few minutes, the pressure of attempted contact lifts, and she is free to fight undistracted.

It was a relief that the caller was less persistent than they might have been, and Eivor considers the best strategy to deal with the interlopers. Switching styles, she swiftly moves to the offense, taking down or injuring those in front of her by blows to their lower legs then barreling over the top of them to stamp on exposed head, neck and hands.
She calls out to anyone who would listen: "The dark priest has fled!"

"The Army of the Unicorn comes for the kit of Julian, not for shadow idolators," one of the grey guys says.
Eivor's attack brings another of the foes down, but she takes a couple more scratches when doing so.

What??
If she wasn't' quite so busy she might ask what the creature meant, but there was the small matter of a life or death melee to resolve.
"The truth will light our path," Eivor replies, using her staff fighting style to deflect incoming attacks while thrusting her spear point into legs and feet to disable her opponents when they try to press.
"The Army of the Unicorn is blind or misled if it does not recognise its own."

"The Unicorn knows who's fit to rule and who is meant to die."
With Eivor's skill and the pilgrim soldiers' attack, the grey guys are killed. The soldiers are momentarily unsure if they should start fighting Eivor or not.

"Stand down, brothers." Eivor says. "Let us make this sacred place fit for the worthy. See to the wounded."
As if to set an example, she sees what she can do for the pilgrims who fought in her defense and tends the wounds of those that can be saved. When she is fairly sure she is not going to be attacked again, she shuffles through her deck and pulls out a card she has not gazed on in some time. Was he still alive? Where did he stand? She intended to find out.
She concentrates on Jacob's card.

The guards follow her instructions for the moment. Most of the people Eivor checks on are dead or very close to it. The guy who looks similar to Martin has enough left in him to reach up and weakly grab her robe.
"Flora... I have to tell you about Flor-" is all he says before passing out from blood loss. PAtching him up keeps him alive but still unconscious from shock.
There is a coolness to Jacob's card. She reaches out through shadow...

As she talks with Jacob, Eivor can see from the corner of her eye that the first aid and triage is done. Pilgrims and soldiers now have time to think and wonder and recall the woman who attacked the high priest.

Eivor doesn't want them thinking too long. She brings Jacob through the trump, which should make them think twice before doing anything rash.

As Eivor draws Jacob through, she sees a teenager grab onto his coat. She seems to want a ride-through. She's probably one of Jacob's young fans trying to tear off a swatch of his clothes for a souvenir but is now caught in the trump field. There is enough time for Eivor to let go of Jacob and not bring the kid through.

Eivor frowns when she sees the interloper. While still holding Jacob places a hand on her and shoves the kid back through the link. She might end up with a fistful of Jacob's clothing but that's fine.

Eivor pushes the teenager away without any difficulty while pulling Jacob through to the Horns of Anubis.
OOC: I will start a new thread for Eivor and Jacob.
