#s://i~ibb~co/KNcD60p/Dorian~jpg Edward's magic negation causes Shelly to strobe with a purple light, and her movements stutter for a few seconds. Then, she returns to shuffling towards Leonil, but now with a noticeable limp. The distraction from his dealing with Shelly gives Dorian an opening, and he gives Edward a long, deep cut along his forearm, causing him to drop the poker. "It's over. Flee or die," Dorian says through gritted teeth.

Fuck...he thinks to himself.
"Well I appreciate the opportunity to leave, and perhaps I'll repay you in kind one day." he says...holding his arm
He backs up to the main door watching things unfold in front of him.
as he makes his way out the door, he shuts it behind him, even if he was to give him a moment or two to run, or perhaps walk away. "Where is that horse at? " he mutters..
Edward makes his way back to where the horse was left and listens for footfalls that might be following him.
Mounting the horse, he makes his way back out the way he came. Trotting...he listens to the hooves on the road.
"So this is how the game is going to be played..." he says. "I suppose I am just a pawn in this game, but I need to find a way to become a power piece."
for now, Edward makes his way back out of the city, along the road he came in on. Perhaps finding a road leading out of town, and this shadow.

Shelly dissolves into a swirling cloud of ash at Leonil's touch. Leo then looks at Edward and smiles through his broken, burnt face. Dorian continues slowly walking toward Edward, giving E enough time to escape the madhouse.
Edward leaves a trail of blood as he searches the street for his horse. He does find it, but once moving he discovers that he can't leave the city. Every road seems to wend its way back to Dorian's street. Even following the riverbank leads to buildings on the water's edge directing the road away from the water and onto Dorian's street.

"This is a Maddening City." he mutters. Must be a spell of some sort.
Edward remembers back to his initial training..."All roads lead to Amber..." his mentor said. So Ed stops.
He quietly moves to find a house, building or anything that will provide him cover. He had a few moments, he knew it. He had to think of a strategy.
He knew so few people, or at least, anyone who could come to his aid in this short time span. Nor did he know where they were...so finding them using magic was limited.
(OOC: Gonna come back to this in a moment, I need to read back a few posts.
Also, what options are there here? Understanding that this Shadow is Leo's and he has control over it. Could Ed create a magical drain in the area to pull in the magic affecting his ability to ride out? What about using the invisibility spell to make his mind invisible to others...so he can either use the time strategically to find a way out, or cast a longer casting spell to get out.? Bringing up the pattern in his mind may have some effect, but I don't know how effective it would be. How about conjuring a trump? Just a deck that would work only while in this shadow? I don't want this to be my first option, but still. Either way, If It looks like I am forced to fight my way out, then I will need a master's weapon. not just a walking cane.)

The smog that covers the city is lifting. The pale grey light that struggled to reach the streets is now turning the pink of sunrise, although by Edward's reckoning, it should be late morning.

as Ed moves about the house and carefully and quietly bars the door. He moves about to find an internal room with at least two exits, perhaps three. Door, door, window...perhaps on the second floor.
Taking a deep breath, he looks around to find some cloth of some sort to bind his wound and accomplishes it.
"I need time..." he mutters.
he goes into his thoughts and wonders what he can control in this Shadow. He doesn't have any trumps, but has heard about them.
He looks around the second floor, looking for a sink, or wash basin. Something that will hold water.
testing a theory, he brings up the Pattern in his head...and starts weaving intricate symbols with his fingers. Does pattern conjuration work here?
He pulls forth the stuff of shadow, and attempts to manipulate it into a card like object. Rigid, measuring about a hand in width and double that in height. (4x8ish)
(OOC: how does this do? Any control?)

Mixing Pattern and Conjuration doesn't do anything for him, but his normal conjuration talents are having an effect, and after a minute or two, he has a card in his hand.

"Okay, ...proof of concept." he mutters.
with the card he conjured, he places that into an inside pocket. He gets up and starts looking through the house, opening up drawers and and cabinets. Looking for something to draw with. He knows this is a bit of a stretch, but he has to try.
as he walks around, imagines a sharpened pencil in a desk drawer in another room and moves to find that desk, and hopefully that pencil.
Sure he could conjure some drawing pencils, but Edward was hoping for a shortcut. On his way to find a desk, he looks out a window to see if the weather or daytime has changed much. "Why isn't there any people?" he wonders.

The pencil is not where he hoped to find it, but he opens a drawer with a few pencils and fountain pens.
It is overcast but a strong breeze looks to be clearing the skies.
There is a hard knock from the front door; more of a slamming, really.

Morbid curiosity is getting to him. Surely it couldn't be Leonil or Dorian. They wouldn't knock....would they? Maybe some sadistic, maddening psychotic sort.....
He moves to the door...and before he opens the door....he hesitates. He starts to back away from the door and looks for another way out of the house.
His heart pounds harder....and perspiration starts to form on his forehead. "Lesson Learned Edward" he thinks to himself.
As he finds his way out, he moves to pick up a few pencils and the scraps of paper he has managed to acquire before heading to a window that he can fit through.
He checks to see if anything is outside waiting for him by leaning this way and that, trying to get as much visual outside before he goes through it.

The door bashing continues behind Edward's back as he goes to the window. Outside, in a dank grey London drizzle, he sees Leonil glowing gold like a small sun and floating over the rooftops towards him.
"A fine location for your last stand, my friend. Before you meet your fate, I must commend you on your brotherly affection and duty. You'll learn they were wasted once you learn of what Dorian has been doing the last few years. Yes, it won't be a pleasant story at all."

This location is as good as any. Ed knows Dorian and Leonil has the upper hand, but he won't make it easy for them.
"Dorian, it is really a shame that the son of Gerard has allowed himself to be swayed in such a way. There obviously must be something you possess (Bloodline perhaps?) that makes you unique to have Leonil keep you around. Just know that it will have to be the pair of you to take me down."
Ed looks for a chair or something he can use as a shield...perhaps something he can use to bind the sword arm if he can catch Dorian in a lunge....but he also places his cane to the ready.
"It is really a shame that we couldn't be true brothers in this...but you will never trust me, and I will never trust you. You bring shame upon our name and I will do my darnedest to put you back in place before I leave here."
and he engages Dorian.
(If he finds a chair, he will move forward and engage Dorian one on one until Leonil gets involved. Like I said, the chair, or any other object he can find that can be used, to bind the weapon/weapon arm of Dorian.)

Edward finds a chair of good size and weight to use as a shield. Dorian bursts through the door after one last great kick.
"You don't understand. Why did you come here alone? I was trying to protect you," he says in nearly a whine.
Edward felt that he was a better swordsman than Dorian when they fought before, and now, with the chair, he is superior. Unable to reach Edward, Dorian hacks at the chair and knocks two legs off. Edward is yet unable to bind with him.
Behind Edward, through the door, is the landing at the top of the stairs and the bannister doesn't look very sturdy.

Edward continues the banter while testing Dorian. "You didn't need to save me...but you can tell me why you were trying to, and why you can't stop yourself. Has Leonil's spell completely enthralled you? Yet you control some aspect of your intellect!"
Ed pushes his left hand and the remains of the chair forward to attempt to push the sword of Dorians to his left, while stepping forward and rotating his entire body forward. He hopes to be too close to for a sword swing, but he does intend on a back-hand fist to the side of the skull to see if Dorian is paying attention.
If this angers him, he then steps back on the defensive toward the door in the hopes that some sort of retort from Dorian would encourage him to move forward against Ed.
"Come on Dorian... Snap out of it. Be the brother you NEED to be."
