"Your Gods do not sound nice at all. Ours are just .... well, absent." Kat replies.
"We have seven Gods whose true names are lost in the midst of time. We have coroded statues to them and stories about them, though many of the stories contradict some of the other ones. We pray to them to help us but they do not come." Kat shrugs. "I don't know whose Gods are worse Ovid, yours or mine. Ours do nothing whilst yours seemingly terrify the people."
"Why can Gods not be nice and helpful?" It was a child's wish for perfection maybe. For magical outside help, though she tried her best to make it sound more philosophical.

"Our gods are gods they are not nice. Why do gods not help, I know not. We are different from our people Princess Katerina. They consider me a demigod and with your gifts would believe you the same. Yet we both help our people. Perhaps it is because of all the mistreatment we suffer from them, we turn cold and distant over time. Maybe the gods are the same. Perhaps they have suffered at the hands of the people and took to the heavens and distant worlds to be away from them. Yet you can speak through the mirrors perhaps there are good gods, ones who are not jaded, ones who seek to perform good works and receive prayer."

"I'm no demi God, but I hope there are some kindly Gods out there. My world will probably die without help, but I will do all that I can until my last breath to save it. It is all I have ever known and I think I may die here on Eshanta." Kat replied sullenly.
"What will you do when you are reborn?"

"I am to bring back what enlightenment I gained from beyond the veil of death to them. I must not tell them everything or some would think you a goddess no matter what you say and some group would begin to sacrifice to you. You do not sound like this is something you wish. Though there are other worlds I have touched while dead, people I have met, sustenance I have found and even great tools." He lifts her hammer.
"These things will bring hope to my people that there is more than the empty darkness. That there are people fighting demons who do not surrender also will fill them with hope as well. Some bring back visions they have seen though this feels like no mere vision. Others open the way to the spirit world to become shamans. Some nothing simply the grim acceptance of death as warriors. Something I thought would be what I would experience. Normally I would go back tell my tale of my time among the dead and return to my duties as a warrior. They may now think me a shaman, I know not."
He smiled then, "One thing I will do, I will return to my people regardless knowing you exist. Knowing Eshanta exists. I shall know someone else is different among their people yet so very gifted. I will know of your kindness and that mirrors hold other worlds beyond them. Ah hold on."
The obsidian he had seen earlier he moves over to having to adjust his sight away from the light to find it again and uses the hammer to break off a piece. He returns. "This is obsidian, it can be made very sharp and can pierce scales. I do not know if your world has this but my world does and some of our weapons make use of it. I would like to give this to you perhaps you can produce it the way you produce food."
He proffers the fragment to her.

Kat laughs at the notion she would be seen as a Goddess.
"I think if you told them I was a Goddess then they would laugh at you. I'm not even sixteen yet and I am not respected here. I do hope though that you have gleaned wisdom from our encounter and hope, because that is what I need most -hope."
Damn he's outgifting me. She reaches through and takes the piece of Obsidian from him and studies it.
"I can create most things given time and study. I thank you for this precious gift Ovid, I hope it will be useful to my people. Please come closer to the mirror, I have one final gift for you."

I'm not disobeying the King if I don't go fully through. Kat thinks to herself. She leans the top of her body forward so that her head goes through the mirror, but her body remains in Eshanta and she kisses him lightly on the cheek, blushing lightly as she does so, before starting to move back.

"Thank you Princess." Ovid says a faint smile on his face. He runs through his head things to say and must be disregarding a great many things for he is silent for a moment.
"I shall remember this gift even if your hammer rusts. I shall place it in my box of memories."

She heads back through the mirror.
"That is the kiss of life so that you achieve your rebirth." She says with a blush.

"It is most certainly assured now." He gave a bow.
"Best of luck, Princess Katerina Alswyck. I can only hope your people listen to the wisdom and care you have for them. They do not deserve you."

"Farewell Ovid. May the Gods blessings shine on you." She passes her hand over the mirror and breaks the connection, just in time it seems as she can hear one of the Masters coming down the stairs with a troupe of students.
She hides away Ovid's gifts so that they are not taken from her as a punishment and prepares for Master Geriant's wrath when he returns.
