Eivor begins the process of getting the army ready to march. There is much grumbling among the soldiers, and Harold requires another round of flogging and hanging the most insubordinate of the bunch. Kat & co show up through the trumps riding the strange dinothactors who enjoy dining on the executed people, playfully bashing the hanging corpses, then taking bites out as the bodies swing by.
In time they are ready to move out, leaving the village in shambles.

Brian rubs the bridge of his nose as he looks at the scene. He glances at Ryland and Edward. Seeming to question if this sort of thing is how Amber armies are disciplined. I take time to look at Harold and Eivor in command for a while saying nothing while I ponder what's going on.
OOC: Does this seem the normal sort of discipline for these men?

They don't look like an army from Amber but a rabble of mercenaries and conscripts who are dissipated and lice-ridden from many months of travel.

So while my experience with Demons isn't particularly deep. Does this army seem like they could hold vs Demons

It depends on how many demons there are, their positioning, surprise, etc. Demons come in a great variety of sizes, strengths, and powers that it is impossible to know until they are fought.

Yes but the morale of these men, their health, and their hygiene?
That seems a major problem

Ryland does some minor shifting as they rode to join Eivor. He picks up undamaged knightly weapons from the villages as they pass through them. Getting a saber, shield, 3 javelins, lance, bow and arrows – in that order.
Ryland gives Brian the slightest negative shake of his head to convey he is thinking the same thing.
At Brian, "Who is that?" Pointing with his eyes over to Harold.

As the group goes riding through Shadow, Edward takes this initiative to watch Ryland as he picks weapons up through shadow. He too will pick up the weapons as he see's his way through the ride.
Crossbow, a throng of bolts, sword, armor and tower shield. Something he can stand behind if needed to and shoot.
As the group goes riding through shadow...he wonders if there is something he can do individually to help out.

" I'm not sure. Let's speak with Eivor about him." I order my men to stay at the rear as I ride closer to Eivor. " How far are we from our goal?" I ask her and then look to Harold " And who is he?"

Kat supplies the answer for Ryland and Brian rides off before he rides off.
"He is Harold Motius, son of Lord Motius of Amber and he has agreed to conduct this war for me in exchange for land and titles here." She replies.
Kat sees the condition of some of the soldiers and begins conjuring medical aid, food and things to repair their armour and weapons. She knows that any army only survives if it is aquately feed and resourced and she will do what she can to bring positive morale back to the troops.

[OOC: To be fair, they've had a week or more to clean up while Eivor was stuck in the maze so hopefully they're not as bad as they were.]
Eivor is not is the best of moods having had to knock this army into a shape where it can march with a degree of cohesion in as short period of time. She is content to let Kat do the talking unless questioned directly. She greets her cousins with a cut nod.

I ask Eivor a question " about how far out are we?"

"Far enough," Eivor replies. "More than a day's travel, I'll warrant. Watch the skies for wyverns."

I give a grunt and a nod to that. I'll have more questions when we make camp. But I study the landscape as we move forward

Ryland varies the pace of his mount moving up and down the line during the march. He will casually chat with the men, sergeants, and leaders of the various factions with the goal of learning about the command, etc., and if these mercenaries are all from this shadow, and what they are fighting for.
During the ride when he sees Princess Katerina alone, "Cousin, I witnessed the floggings and hangings on my way in. What qualifications does Lord Harold have for leading armies? Does he lead one for Amber?" Ryland asks.
