"Improvise how?" Kat asks. "Making a hoke in the walls will only let the Chaos army in."

Ooc: how about a rough description of the city, maze, and where they are and where eivor is just so Ry and Ed have a better idea of the situation.

[OOC - Sorry I'm away for a weekend and on my backup tiny laptop]
"The Mirror Maze is to in the gully over there. The Capital is that way about 4 hours." She points to the east. "Eivor's army I hope is somewhere near to the capital and there are human towns dotted all around the area. As to making a tunnel under the walls, then you can easily do it given time and the lack of an army outside. We'd be better off getting Lady Eivor to fly over the walls and then Trump us all in. You'll see around the place monoliths hanging in the sky. If I could ever work out what the monliths up there are for then maybe there might be another solution to the problem, but I haven't had time to study the Maze to find out why they are here." Kat replies for them.

I ponder what Kat says for a moment. " I can tunnel under the wall without taking a lot of time but....I'm not sure I should pull that trick more then once. Vada's forces were surprised with the trick. I don't know if these forces would be."

“An Army of the Courts of Chaos is vague. Are they demons or chaosians, or both? I need to see them, observe them, and the same for your army. Do we have a weather report for the next week? Also, I want to look over the terrain and the physical defenses. Does either side have fliers?” Ryland takes a deep breath.
“Next, what is a “Broken Pattern? Do we need to hold it, or can we just harass the other army whenever they get close?” Ryland tilts his head slightly and pinches the brow of his nose with his index finger and thumb, then looks up and continues.
“Princess Katerina, this is your shadow. What kind of technology do the defenders have? Even better, what tech works here that no one knows about? I mean, do rifles work, but haven't been invented? i.e. How do we cheat here? What information do you have that the enemy doesn’t, and how can we use that information to win?”

"Please, Also consider if there are any natural predators that we could call to our aid. Large, small...it doesn't matter as long as they help us out."
King Brian determines if he can get into the city, or rather, under the walls to help out...Ryland is strategizing on odds Looks like he takes after Benedict in that regard.
Maybe there is foliage or carnivorous ducks in this shadow that can help us out? It may sound strange, but no one would think about these things. A person must think outside the proverbial circle to get things done.

So many questions and not all of them relevant to things.
"The army was all demons when I was here last. Its not to say that its composition hasn't changed since I was last here and Lady Eivor would have more up to date knowledge of that. The army will probably be close to or beseiging the capital by now. The opposition has co-opted some of the local Wyverns so yes they do have some ability to fly. Lady Eivor has stolen one of them. I didn't see any fliers with our army as we marched. There are a few other predators here, but not lots. The main one being the shadow cat which is a large feline creature that stalks its prey by blending into the background and stroking from camouflage. We don't have any of these carnivorous duck creatures of which you speak. The demon army has been here for some time and has thinned the creatures down over time. Maybe they killed all these duck things? We use Dinathactors here as mounts rather than the unintelligent horse things thay Amber has."
Kat sighs. "A Broken Pattern is a reflection of the primal pattern in Amber, or so I have been told. As they get further out from Amber they get more borken with more flaws in them. The Mirror Maze is more than a Broken Pattern however and it links to the Hall of Mirrors in Amber. Its currently broken however as Lady Eivor broke the mirrors in there. I think I'm one of the few people who can fix it, so I don't think we need to hold it at this time. As to weather reports, there will be records of the past weather in the capital should you need them, but I don't see how its relevant."
"The terrain between here and the capital is moves from scrubland here into grasslands with woods interspersed around."

" there is also the head of the army to debrief." I smile at Edward and Ryland before turning to Kat " If I recall this is your first time?"
Before returning to the other two " We have two chaos armies. The one in the capital is the first problem. If we can beat them we can possibly use leverage to negotiate with the other. The other is under a command of a Jurt."
I toss a flask to Ryland. " And if my hunch is right the head of the army in the city is fleeing with an item of power that's the true goal here."

“Yes. Let’s head to Lady Eivor, and we can talk on the way.” Ryland smiles and turns to Princess Katerina. “Princess Katerina, have you been to Amber lately, seen the storms, contemplated the hassle that a defending army or an attacking army would have? Or, seen the damage of a lightning strike up close?” Ryland makes a broad gesture with his arms. “He who controls the weather has a significant advantage on the battlefield. Just having a good weather report is essential. And having lousy weather almost always hurts the attackers more than the defenders.”
Ryland takes a deep breath and goes on. “An example is being able to sortie out from a defense, strike, lure the enemy to counterattack, pull them into extending their forces, and then have the weather turn. Thus making small missile fire useless and bogging down their mobile forces while the defenders can attack with slower forces. Resulting in an enemy who can’t quickly defend their advance.”

I turn to Ryland " When these troubles are done I'd be interested in talking about the weather troubles." I take the card for Eivor and hand it back to Kat.
" Have you tried weather magic here?" I study the sky for a moment " the incident in Diega makes he uncomfortable trying weather magic"

Kat turns to Ryland.
"I was in Amber for the Regent's party. There were stories about there being storms but I didn't really have any time to investigate. I was trying to raise an army to come here and didn't have time to look into them. If you control the weather then you wouldn't need to see the report as you can make it what you want. The last time and this time here though nothing seems unusual with the weather here. So I'm guessing whatever that is may be more changing the weather is after Amber and not here. Now I read in a book in the library that the Jewel of Judgement could do that. So if you have that particular trinket I suggest you use it wisely. If you don't then I'm afraid I have no idea where it is or how to change the weather."

"Its in other shadows. It was in Deiga....and it came to my homeland as well. Its likely elsewhere in Shadow. As the old chestnut goes 'As above, so bellow ' "
Brian turns to Edward before Kat leads the rest of them through Trump to Eivor
